Job Summary
The Packaging Line Leader is an expert-level position in the packaging department. This position is responsible for helping guide packaging members in the safe and successful operation of the PACKAGING LINEs. The incumbent is also responsible for following company SOPs, adhering to cGMP guidelines and all environmental, health, and safety guidelines, and maintaining high standards in compliance and quality during operations.
Reporting Relationshipshis position provides guidance to Packaging Operators at levels I through III.

Essential Functions and Detailed Duties- Must be able to fully perform all Packaging Operator I, II and III tasks, including operating packaging equipment independently, including setup, cleanup, sanitization, material movement, and safely operating the packaging equipment to perform packaging functions such as filling, capping, labeling, and packing containers as per Packaging batch record or SOP.
- In addition, must be able to:
- Perform expert mechanical functions, including troubleshooting, correcting machine malfunctions, and identifying packaging problems, with the ability to maintain and repair equipment.
- Additionally, the Packaging Line Leader must have extensive experience in all three of the following packaging machines: Slate Filler, Labeler, and Capper.
- Appropriately and without errors, documents activities in batch records, forms, and other GMP documents.
- Coordinates packaging activities and assists in solving any work schedule conflicts.
- Offer suggestions and follow-up on process improvements related to safety, compliance, cost, and productivity.
- Understands packaging production requirements and assists the team as needed.
- Identifies and reports both machine and manual deviations to the supervisor or designee.
- Able to train Packaging Operator Level I, II, and III.
- Advanced cross-functional skills to support other departments in activities including inspections, dispensing, cleaning, and SME to other skilled operators.
- Identifies and reports issues that, if left uncared for, might end up in investigations.
- Assists with the formal troubleshooting process. Provides investigation documentation as required by SOP.
- Responsible for Packaging Production output per company requirements.
- Guides other operators and assists in assigning work and offering training.
- Knowledgeable in Serialization procedures.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and guidelines. Must report unsafe conditions, near misses, and/or injuries in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workplace.
- Follow applicable safety guidelines while operating the packaging equipment.
- Be able to perform other duties as assigned.
Specialized Skills and Knowledge- Basic mathematical skills
- Intermediate computer skills
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Must complete departmental SOP, GMP, and any required Qualifications.
- Good dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Walking, standing, and moving and lifting 50 lbs.
Experience and Education- High school diploma
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry
