Packaging Engineer

CFS Brands is seeking to hire a Packaging Engineer reporting to the Director of Sustain Engineering. This position will work to achieve maximum Supply Chain efficiency and establish standards, governance, and work instructions to improve packaging cost of quality. This position will play a heavy role in achieving organization fill rate and order accuracy goals by reducing shortages, damages in transit, and overall cost.

Essential Functions | Accountabilities | Performance Measures

• Assess and optimize current packaging materials and recommend areas of opportunities.
• Establish governance, packaging specifications, and work instructions for new product development, sustain, and VAVE efforts.
• Conduct feasibility and validation testing of any new packaging changes.
• Apply technical knowledge and leadership skills in problem-solving and driving improvements.
• Manage the optimal design, validation, and implementation of new product packaging items.
• Recommend new packaging options while balancing cost, performance, and quality.
• Work with vendors in developing and introducing new packaging items.
• Oversee and coordinates ship testing and trials of new packaging items at manufacturing locations and distribution centers.
• Serve as a SME for packaging at the site. Own and execute change controls related to packaging components.
• Troubleshoot issues related to packaging components and working with Operations, Quality, and vendors to reduce/eliminate issues. Work with Operations and component vendors to reduce/eliminate downtime due to packaging component issues.
• Independently plan and conduct small- to medium-size assigned projects within engineering specialty requiring conventional types of plans, investigations, and/or equipment. Manage multiple, often concurrent, projects and meet deadlines.
• Manage non-conformance, corrective/preventative action GTW records related to packaging components.
• Actively participate in the resolution of supplier quality issues.

Communication & Influence: Communicates with parties within and outside of their own area to explain facts, policies and practices related to the area.

Problem Solving & Complexity: Identifies, defines, and addresses problems which are not immediately evident but typically not complex. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experiences or standard procedures and basic analysis. Has responsibility for making minor changes in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of area.

Education & Experience Required:
3 to 5 years of related experience and/or training
Theoretical knowledge typical obtained through specific education and training
Bachelor's Degree preferred in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, Packaging Engineering Logistics Engineering, or related field (Supply Chain Engineering)

Physical Demands:

• Wear safety attire and protective gear on a daily basis.

• Usually work indoors. This site may not be temperature controlled.
• Often exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.
• Are exposed to hazardous equipment on a weekly basis.
• May be exposed to contaminant.
• May share workspace with others.
• May be required to lift objects up to 30 lbs.
