- Oversee and manage complete packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs, prototype development, performance testing, and vendor compliance.
- Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.
- Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage.
- Work closely with Campus Engineering to optimize packaging supply base for cost, lead time, regionalization, standardization, supply assurance, and compliance with customer, and internal requirements.
- Develop various packaging concepts in coordination with finished products and materials used and ensure compatibility of packaging with manufacturing unit.
- Specify and recommend efficiency tools and test methods to develop and validate packaging designs.
- Develop and implement comprehensive test plans to ensure that packaging exceeds customer specifications
- Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging.
- Establish standards and guidelines for supplier evaluation. Evaluate and select packaging suppliers/vendors; periodically conduct vendor reviews.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders from cross-functional teams to ensure all key criteria is achieved in the design and performance of the package.
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline; Master's degree preferred in equivalent field of study
- 5-8 years minimum of relevant experience with Supply Chain operations
- Strong MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Access experience
- Intermediate proficiency of AutoCAD
- Proficient in SQL preferred
- Strong background in work measurement programs such as Labor Management and Engineering Labor Standards desired
- Adept at MHE specification including power equipment, conveyor systems, rack systems, sortation systems and various picking methodologies
- Ability to take business forecasts and translate into a facility design
- Strong communications skills with other internal team members, including ability to present to middle and senior management to drive decision making
- Ability to work and deliver in changing environments, under limited guidance while adhering to specified deadlines and budgets
