Packaging Associate

KA! Empathogenics is an exciting and innovative new e-commerce company based in East Harlem in New York. We are creating a new category of herbal empathogenic supplements featuring Kanna, designed to help people feel more alive as they navigate everyday anxiety and stress. We are a small but growing start-up company in cutting-edge plant medicine and food science looking for a Packaging Technician to join our manufacturing team in Harlem, NY. The focus of this position is on packaging of ready-to-sell herbal supplement chews and tinctures. The Packaging Technician is responsible for executing work in the production facility and will report to the Production Manager.

The position is not limited to the duties listed below and the employee will often be asked to perform other related duties as requested or assigned. This is a great opportunity for entry-level candidates exploring a career in cutting edge psychoactive plant medicine production that will allow you to develop working knowledge and skills in this growth industry

This will initially be a part-time position that will develop into a full-time position as the company grows. We are seeking self-motivated individuals who are committed to the company, punctual, are detail-oriented, with good hygiene and cleanliness, and are congenial with others, have an open mind and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Primarily responsible for packaging tasks as needed for all products.
• Packaging herbal supplements using heat guns, biodegradable shrink wrap, and impulse sealers
• Labeling products using a semi-automatic machine
• Stamping and stickering lot numbers and best-by dates to boxes and bottles
• Keeping up a steady and productive pace, according to our order volume, shipping schedule, GMP standards and other factors.
• Making sure that the number of products you're packing is accurate and professionally packaged.
• Organizing packages to be ready for shipment
• Maintaining a clean and orderly packing station and adhere to health and safety standards required.
• Replenishing packaging materials from nearby storage unit.
• Willing to help other employees when needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Google sheets.
• 2+ years of working in a team centered environment.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate with peers, supervisors, and managers.
• Ideal candidate will be well organized, self-motivated, honest, trustworthy, and articulate with a strong sense of brand integrity with excellent attention to detail and great organizational and time management skills.
• Able to work independently when required and have strong follow-through.

• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Comfortable with repetitive motions and agile with packaging and labeling equipment
• Work at a fast pace
• Maintain inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment.
