Overnight Kennel Technician

Operation Freedom Paws is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower veterans and individuals with disabilities to live a quality life by teaching them to train their own dogs, and certifying them as service dog teams. Our kennels are open to the public, which helps support our mission. The furry guests in our kennel range from public (civilian) dogs, K9 working dogs, and service dogs.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Overnight Kennel Technician to join our team. This is a physically demanding role that requires animal handling skills, attention to detail, and a passion for providing excellent customer service.

Job responsibilities: Providing exceptional care to our furry guests and ensuring their comfort and well-being during their stay including taking dogs out individually for potty walks, interacting with other staff members, preparing meals and Kongs, setting up kennels, cleaning, checking on sleeping dogs, and remaining on property entire shift. Technicians clean and disinfect kennels, runs, crates, and play yards; wash and sterilize water pails, dishes, bedding, and toys; and pick up waste. Duties also include answering the phone and assisting morning customers and clients. Must be reliable, dependable, self-starter, and detail oriented.

Job requires a high school diploma or equivalent (or related experience and/or training). Kennel Technicians must have the ability to read, interpret, and follow documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, OFP protocols, and dog records. Must be able to lift unassisted a minimum of 65 pounds and be willing and able to safely restrain or move dogs of all sizes including dogs that are over 110 pounds. While performing duties, Technicians stand, walk and are active for the full shift.

Job type: Full-time overnight shift Monday through Friday (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.). We provide on-the-job training and paid lunch hour.
