Department: Golf Operations Part-time: Hourly - Non-exempt
Position Description
Outside Services performs duties as assigned by the Director of Golf Operations, Head
Golf Professional, and Assistant Golf Professional. General responsibilities include, but not limited to providing exceptional customer service to golf patrons. Assisting golfers with bags, cart cleanliness/upkeep, maintaining the driving range, and using tee sheet software to confirm check in of golfers while organizing players at the tee box to begin play. Responsibilities may include other golf operation tasks. Works efficiently and productively without direct supervision. This is an at-will position.
Essential Responsibilities
- Stages carts in proper rotation which includes:
- Bringing carts from the cart barn in the morning
- Cleaning and fueling
- Completing safety inspections and documentation of carts after each use
- Returning carts to cart barn at the end of the day.
- Ensures practice facilities are open and ready for golfers. Picks up and cleans range balls and fills range ball dispenser throughout the day.
- Ensures the cart barn, practice range and surrounding areas are kept orderly and clean throughout the day.
- Use tee sheet software to organize players for proper start of play in accordance with prescribed tee times.
- Coordinates with Pro Shop staff to prepare for and conduct golf events.
- Assist in monitoring, cleaning, transporting and filling water jugs on the golf course.
- Relieves other outside golf personnel as necessary.
- Washes and dries cart and hand towels, utilizing golf course washer and dryer.
- Performs light maintenance duties as assigned by supervisors including trash removal, sweeping and raking.
- Operates golf carts in a safe driving manner at all times.
- Provides safe transportation of guests and employees via golf cart on various routes from clubhouse, parking lot and golf course, as required.
- Supports DTPD’s Mission statement, by providing excellent service to the community.
- Completes all additional duties as prescribed by management.
- Assists other Park District employees when needed.
Communication & Customer Service
- Develops and maintains positive and effective working relationship with coworkers and to promote and maintain high morale and enthusiasm.
- Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Communicates matters of importance to staff and patrons in a timely manner.
- Makes recommendations to management for improvements and efficiencies.
- Employee represents the Dundee Township Park District in a professional manner.
Safety & Risk Management
- Maintains a working knowledge of all general and departmental-specific safety rules.
- Uses material handling equipment or staff assistance when lifting and/or moving objects 50 pounds or heavier.
- Reports any work-related injuries to supervisor promptly.
- Immediately reports all accidents and unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
- Attends all required safety program and in-service education meetings.
- Corrects unsafe conditions, if possible, alerts co-workers to potential unsafe conditions and/or reports them to supervisor.
- Instructs co-workers, when necessary, on safety procedures or precautions.
Qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
- Driver’s License in good standing.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Good physical condition, sufficient strength, and mobility required.
- Ability to learn additional software and systems required for business transactions.
- Reading, writing, speaking and understanding English language.
- Possess good problem solving skills and has capacity to act rationally and calmly in high stress and/or emergency situations.
- Ability to work a varied schedule including some nights and weekends as required.
- Ability to pay meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to execute the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Hours Standards
This is a part time seasonal non-exempt position.
- March through November (dependent on when course can be open)
- 3 to 5 days per week; 6 to 8 hours per day
- Weekend or holiday hours may be required as well as extended hours as needed.
