Position Summary
Seattle Colleges is looking to hire an Outreach Specialist to support Seattle Promise at our District office in downtown Seattle.
Starting salary range for this position is $69,384.64 annually, with incremental step increases to the range maximum, as outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Position Summary
This is a full-time, exempt position at the Seattle Colleges funded by the City of Seattle’s Families, Education, Preschool, and Promise Levy (FEPP) which has the goal of transforming the lives of Seattle’s children, youth, and families by leading with race and social justice by providing Seattle residents access to educational opportunities from preschool through post-secondary. This position will primarily work with high school students and staff at Seattle’s publicly funded high schools to recruit students to the Seattle Promise program and the Seattle Colleges. This position reports directly to the Director of Outreach for Seattle Promise. The Outreach Specialist will assist the Director of Outreach with program development, data collection and analysis, and implementing strategies associated with securing new student enrollments and student retention. This position is responsible for the implementation of Seattle Promise-related programming, including but not limited to recruitment events in collaboration with Seattle Public Schools and the City of Seattle. This position is expected to work occasionally in the evening as program needs demand and includes regular travel throughout Seattle for site visits at multiple locations.
This position is an exempt role governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with representation by AFT-SPS and subject to union shop provisions.

What you will be working on:
Outreach
- Collaborate with staff across the campus and district to lead outreach, intake, information, and other onboarding initiatives to enhance high school outreach related to Seattle Promise.
- Work with college and district staff to develop and implement best practices related to high school recruitment and retention targeted at diverse populations of students.
- Partner with college and high school outreach efforts targeting potential Seattle Promise students, including working at multiple sites with multiple policies, procedures, and cultures.
Reporting and Analysis__
- Track students, collect, analyze, and report on data related to student outreach, enrollment, financial aid status, and retention.
- Assess student progress toward application completion and milestone achievement and make appropriate referrals for additional student support as needed.
Programming and Student Support__
- Provide programming and interventions aimed at promoting student retention and completion throughout the student onboarding experience such as planning and facilitating application workshops and planning Readiness Academy and Summer Bridge events.
- Assist students with the Seattle Promise enrollment process, including program application, college application, financial aid application and file completion, college assessment and placement, program selection, and first quarter registration.
- Facilitate services including off-campus school visits, student interaction tracking, presentations to students and other stakeholders, and event coordination.
- Serve as a point of contact for students, parents, high school staff and college staff for questions about the Seattle Promise program.
- Participate in the development of program priorities as a member of the Seattle Promise team, including but not limited to developing and maintaining programming to build campus and community involvement with Seattle Promise.
Additional Functions
- Represent the Seattle Colleges at various meetings.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise part-time hourly staff, work/study students, interns, and/or volunteers.

- Demonstrated experience navigating complex systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, student development, psychology, human relations, or related field.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Two years’ experience or equivalent in secondary or higher education, a college access organization, or related.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines while being attentive to detail.
- Demonstrated experience with working effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds, such as racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic, and with diverse physical and learning disabilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of college recruitment strategies.
- Proven highly motivated, self-starter, flexible; ability to work in a dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity and proficiency with various technologies, including but not limited to student database systems and student success technologies.
