Job Summary
The OSU Honors College and OSU Cascades campus are seeking an OSU &Cascades Honors Engagement Coordinator and Advisor. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. This position is located in Bend, Oregon.
The Oregon State University Honors College (HC) is a degree granting authority within Oregon State University (OSU). The overall mission of the HC is to provide an innovative, enriched learning experience and a small college atmosphere to motivated, capable undergraduates, integrating students from all academic colleges into a cohesive community. The Honors College supports Oregon State University's strategic initiatives advancing equity, inclusion, and diversity and is committed to providing employees with the resources and opportunities to understand and further these goals.
This position is responsible for the development, management, and implementation of quality, comprehensive, and coordinated engagement and co-curricular programming for Cascades campus students enrolled in the HC. This position will also be responsible for representing the Honors College at OSU-Cascades recruitment events and communicating information about the Honors College to prospective students and families, as well as partnering with HC staff to identify opportunities to adapt Corvallis co-curricular offerings for Cascades honors students. The coordinator will determine and address student needs and conduct outreach to students with low engagement. Key responsibilities include designing and managing engagement opportunities based on Honors College values, creating orientation and co-curricular activities for new and continuing students, and reporting on success relative to goals and key performance indicators.
This position also includes general academic advising responsibilities for HC students at Cascades. The person in this position will be responsible for onboarding students, fostering early engagement with HC degree requirements, monitoring HC student progress towards HC degree completion; connecting HC requirements to students' goals, and supporting students through the successful completion of all honors degree requirements, including the thesis.
This position also includes academic advising responsibilities for non-honors OSU Cascades Students.

Key Responsibilities
The incumbent in this position is expected to be informed about principles and practices that advance equity, inclusion, and diversity and integrate those principles into the performance of job responsibilities.
60% General OSU-Cascades Student Advising and OSU Cascades Honors Student Advising
  • Advising responsibilities include:
    • advising students on academic requirements and procedures including, but not limited to, academic, life, and career goals;
    • providing Honors College students with thesis support;
    • evaluating and reviewing student programs of study, academic progress, and graduation audits;
    • monitoring assigned advising caseload progress toward degree requirements and providing proactive communication and outreaches;
    • reporting on progress of caseload, academic advising performance, goals, and assessments;
    • maintaining up-to-date information about curricular, unit-level, and university policies and academic regulations;
    • Developing and maintaining student resources, including web information, to utilize in academic planning.
    • coordinating Honors College requirements with those of the students' disciplinary college;
    • communicating with students about advising policies, procedures, academic status, academic plans, etc.
    • Utilize OSU systems and tools as required for advising practice.

40% OSU-Cascades Honors Co-Curricular Program Development, Recruitment Support, and Thesis Support
  • Design, plan, and oversee events and activities for admitted Cascades students enrolled in the HC, with a focus on community and professional development programming and preparation for postgraduate success. Attend and/or manage events and activities to support these functions as needed. Implement and contribute to the development of opportunities that enhance personal and professional relationships and promote the values of social justice, equity, and inclusion within the Honors College community.
  • Make presentations about the HC admissions application process and represent the HC at recruitment events. Attending recruitment and co-curricular programs may include transporting students and the ability to drive a university vehicle.
  • Partner with academic faculty and other Honors College to identify and provide support services that advance thesis progression and honors degree completion of HC students enrolled at Cascades.
  • Work closely with HC staff and other Honors College coordinators to develop and execute assessment of student learning related to co-curricular initiatives, including tracking participation for data analysis to adjust program offerings.
  • Participate in campus committees and groups and represent the HC, with a focus on the success of Cascades students.
  • Track expenditures in compliance with college and university purchasing guidelines.

What You Will Need
  • Bachelor's degree
  • One year of professional experience advising learners in higher education.
  • Two years of professional experience managing events and concurrent short- and long-term projects.
  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholder groups from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Strong writing, interpersonal communication, and oral presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated competence using basic technology (e-mail, word processing, social media, websites) and analytics to support work activities.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities and prioritize as needed.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
What We Would Like You to Have
  • Master's degree
  • Familiarity with honors programs (goals, outcomes, value, and curriculum).
  • Experience working with educational technology such as learning management systems and video conferencing software.
  • Demonstrated organizational abilities in event and program planning, coordination and delivery involving many people in different contexts (students, faculty, industry, etc.).
  • Experience working with students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
  • Experience developing, planning, and implementing events to support student engagement, professional development, and persistence.
  • Demonstrated success coordinating co-curricular programs within higher education.
  • Experience using assessment to inform co-curricular and curricular initiatives and programs.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
The position will be located at the Oregon State University Cascades campus in Bend, Oregon. It is expected work will combine in-person and remote modalities, where deemed appropriate and most effective in consultation with supervisors in accordance with Oregon State University policies on remote work. Evening and weekend work may be required.
