Teracom Services, LLC (a subsidiary of National Power) is actively seeking a OSP Laborer to join our expanding team. Teracom Services specializes in various facets of Telecommunication Professional Services, encompassing both Outside and Inside Plant Infrastructure, Data Center Construction, and Commercial Electrical Services. Our focus includes projects in Medical Facilities, Solar installations, and Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations.
Job Summary:OSP Laborers are responsible for performing manual and technical tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of Outside Plant infrastructure, including telecommunications, electrical, and utility systems. They work to ensure that the network infrastructure is built and maintained to meet quality standards and service requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Construction: Assist in the installation of telecommunications, electrical, or utility cables, conduits, poles, and associated equipment in accordance with project specifications.
- Trenching and Excavation: Operate equipment such as backhoes, trenchers, and excavation machinery to dig trenches and install underground infrastructure.
- Cable Splicing: Assist in cable splicing and termination activities, including the preparation and fusion of fiber optic and copper cables.
- Pole Placement: Participate in the placement, climbing, and maintenance of utility poles, ensuring they meet safety and structural standards.
- Equipment Operation: Operate various tools and equipment, including drills, saws, and heavy machinery, safely and efficiently.
- Safety: Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment and prevent accidents.
- Maintenance and Repair: Assist in the maintenance and repair of Outside Plant equipment, including damaged cables, connectors, and infrastructure.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and equipment operated.
- Quality Control: Perform quality control checks to ensure that work meets industry standards and specifications.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including OSP engineers, technicians, and supervisors, to coordinate tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Environmental Compliance: Adhere to environmental regulations and best practices, including proper disposal of hazardous materials.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in OSP construction or related field is a plus but not always required.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labor in outdoor environments, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to operate construction and excavation equipment safely and efficiently.
- Basic understanding of telecommunications or utility infrastructure is beneficial.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to follow safety guidelines and regulations.
Working Conditions:
OSP Laborers typically work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow. The job may require physical labor, including heavy lifting, digging, and climbing. Depending on the project, they may need to work at heights, operate heavy machinery, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
