Position Overview:
As an Orthodontic Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting Dr. Witcher and our awesome patients while ensuring the smooth operation of an orthodontic practice. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with patient care and perform various clinical and administrative tasks. This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care:
- Prepare patient chairs, ensuring they are clean, sterilized, and properly equipped.
- Greet and prepare patients by name for their orthodontic procedures, making them feel comfortable and at ease.
- Assist Dr. Witcher during procedures, such as taking dental impressions, placing and removing orthodontic appliances, and adjusting wires and brackets.
- Provide post-treatment instructions to patients regarding oral hygiene, dietary restrictions, and appliance care.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and manage patient records accurately.
2. Clinical Support:
- Take digital X-rays and photographs of patients' teeth and jaws.
- Perform preliminary orthodontic assessments, including taking measurements and impressions.
- Assist with orthodontic appliance fabrication, adjustments, and repairs.
- Ensure the efficient flow of patients by managing patient records and updating treatment charts.
- Maintain and organize dental supplies, instruments, and equipment.
3. Administrative Duties:
- Input accurate notes and add any information into the notes that Dr. Witcher explains to the patients.
-Schedule and confirm patient appointments, coordinating with other team members and considering orthodontists' availability.
- Manage patient records, including updating medical histories and treatment plans.
- Assist with general office duties, such as filing, data entry, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a dental assisting program is preferred.
- Certification or license as an Orthodontic Assistant is desirable.
- Prior experience in a dental or orthodontic setting is highly beneficial.
- Strong knowledge of orthodontic procedures, instruments, and materials.
- Proficiency in taking dental X-rays and maintaining infection control protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients of all ages.
- Outstanding organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from orthodontists.
- Familiarity with dental software and computer skills for managing patient records.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 36 per week
