Optometric Technician

We are looking for an Optometric Technician to join our growing private practice!

Job starts at $15/hour.

($17 once fully training and on your own)

Optometric technicians work closely and assist the doctor before, during, and after eye exams.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Preliminary and clinical testing (history taking, visual acuities, tonometry, visual field testing, retinal imaging, etc.)
• Taking medical history
• Data entry into electronic medical records
• Perform Contact lens insertion, removal, and proper care training
• Answering and helping patients over the phone.
• Generate and manage referrals and correspondence letters
• Assisting optometrists

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Schedule appointments
• Answering phones
• Greeting patients
• Dispensing eyewear
• Be familiar with insurance coverage and vision benefits
• Be familiar with optometric medical billing and coding

Skills:
- Strong knowledge of optometric procedures and equipment
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Basic understanding of medical coding and billing processes
- Sales experience in a retail setting is a plus
- Familiarity with retail math concepts

This position requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working in an optometry or healthcare setting, with a focus on providing exceptional patient care.
