Desert Vision Center is a solo ophthalmology private practice in Rancho Mirage, California. We are seeking to hire a professional Ophthalmic Technologist who is motivated to work in a fast-paced cataract and retina practice as a long term career.
We will provide on-the-job training for the right candidate entering the medical field for the first time. College degree and science background preferred.
The ideal candidate will have an excellent customer service background, enjoy working, and will be genuinely positive and enthusiastic. You will be expected to learn and demonstrate proficiency in computers, educating patients about services and procedures, and performing ophthalmic testing.

Job Purpose: Assists ophthalmology patients by performing the patient work-up, performing ophthalmic testing, assisting in ophthalmic procedures and laser treatment and providing patient education and counseling.
Duties:
~Prepares patients for ophthalmology examination by dilating their pupils; reports patient history summary including change in visual acuity and elevated intraocular pressure.
~Counsels patients regarding use of ophthalmic drops and other medications, and answers questions about treatment and surgery.
~Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, sterilizing equipment, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
