Operator II - Food Manufacturing Associate

Position Summary/Objective of job: 

The Operator 2 Team Member is an intermediate-level position on the Spin team. The Spin team's goal is to produce the finished product of high-quality, premium ice cream in an efficient manner and to package the product correctly into pints and tubs. The Operator 2 Team Member has strong familiarity with the equipment and is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the production machinery. This position requires attention to detail, a strong commitment to food and plant safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Food Manufacturing environment. 

Essential Functions:  

• Monitors and maintains manufacturing equipment on a constant basis. 

• Conducts pre- and post-op checks on equipment daily. 

• Uses equipment to complete daily production tasks. 

• Sets up and disassembles equipment daily. 

• Support and troubleshooting on any issues with equipment. 

• Follows Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) and trains new Operators on machinery; follows up on training to ensure understanding and proper adherence to SSOP & procedures. 

• Identify and recommend potential process improvements in both the machinery and production to management. 

• Systematically record and document all lot codes utilized during the production process. 

• Adhere to food and personnel safety, materials handling, and sanitation standards to maintain a clean and safe work environment. 

• Ensures all quality standards are being upheld and met. 

• Escalate any issues to Operator 3 and/or Spin Supervisor in a timely manner. 

• Support Spin team in meeting daily production goals.

Qualifications:

• 1+ years working in commercial food preparation, manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment. 

• 6+ months machine operating experience.   

• Knowledge of pertinent local, federal, and state health and safety laws and regulations.  

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 

Knowledge and Critical Skills: 

• Fluency in English. 

• Strong attention to detail. 

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers. 

• Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills. 

• Comfortable working on a team in a manufacturing facility with other teams. 

• Ability to uphold a high standard of service, efficiency, sanitation, and safety. 

• Comfortable with operating a wide range of commercial kitchen equipment. 

Physical Demands:

• Standing 75% of the time. 

• Walking 25% of the time. 

• Frequent lifting up to 35 lbs. 

• Often lifting up to 50 lbs.  

• Frequent repetitive motion. 

• Will be required to regularly talk, hear and see.    

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.   

Work Environment:

• The work environment is a confined space where spatial awareness is very important.  

• The work environment is bright and well-lit.  

• The work environment is loud due to the equipment. 

• Room is occasionally wet when cleaning. 

• The majority of the time will be in the production room which is between 50-60 degrees.   

• Occasionally be in refrigerators 32-40 degrees and in freezers -15 to 0 degrees. 

• Occasionally strong scents & odors depending on ingredients and cleaning.
