POSITION: Forklift Operator
REPORTS TO: Chris Mears
Position Summary: The position will ensure the movement and picking of product and materials from the warehouse to the production line using a powered industrial truck. This position also will also ensure proper inventory accuracy and FIFO using scan guns and RF terminals Must ensure efficient production and compliance with all company quality, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) policies and procedures.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
• Operate gasoline, liquified gas or electric-powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, boom, scoop, lift beam, swivel-hook, fork grapple, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials in warehouse, storage yard, or factory.
• Performs all daily safety inspections of powered industrial trucks prior to operation. Reports all safety issues with trucks to be taken out of service for repairs.
• Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
• Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or hooks, tow trucks to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated area.
• Uses scanning technology to properly track/capture materials' movement throughout facility and/or process. • Unloads and stacks materials by raising and lowering lifting device. • Inventory materials on work floor and supply workers with materials as needed.
• May weight materials or products and record weight on tags, labels, or production schedules.
• May unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, or lifting device.
• Ability to perform proper and thorough trailer inspection to ensure food safety and product safety, including completing the form and signing.
• May lubricate truck, recharge batteries, fill fuel tank, or replace liquified-gas tank.
• Follow all company and regulatory safety guidelines in equipment operation and work activities. Maintain GMP practices.
• Perform shipping, receiving, warehouse, and line supply functions.
