JOB SUMMARY

This position operates all designated production lines in an efficient manner, with adherence to quality, safety, and material specification sheet guidelines. The incumbent is responsible for the setup, calibration, and operation of machining equipment used to produce or modify products. Works from written specifications, inspects machining operations, documents line performance, and compares finished product against specified quality tolerances.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Set-Up:
  1. Checks items per Specification Sheet.
  2. Completes In-Process Forms (for product, item, temperature, mixing speed, change in codes, or new items).
  3. Ensures proper documentation, double-checks, and signs-off on all Quality Assurance, Line Release, Pick-Ticket paperwork, etc.
  4. Uses assigned lot code certification to production order.
  5. Ensures the proper set-up of the lot code for primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging (e.g., sticks, tubes, jar labels, cartons, blister cards, shipper labels, or bar code labels).
  6. Ensures proper equipment set-ups (e.g., temperature, speed, mixing weights, seals, functionality of the packaging, correct count for WIP cases, proper skid configuration per specification sheet).
  7. Ensures proper line clearances (i.e., keeping the area clear of any components other than order running on the line, log sheets, etc.).
    Set-Up (Quality Checks):
  8. Checks lot codes and expiration dates (e.g., ineligible codes, incorrect lot codes per SOP Lot Coding System, partial codes, unclear codes, and missing characters).
  9. Checks the physical property of the product and finished product (e.g., bubbles, scraps on surfaces, foreign matter, color is within specification, no un-melted wax, aerated product, or inconsistent viscosity).
  10. Checks for proper documentation while running the Line (e.g., Quality Assurance paperwork, hourly checks, SPC, Material Accountability, scrap reporting, proper product yield calculation, etc.).
  11. Interprets and follows a Material Specification Sheet and Line Operating Manual for multi-functioning machines.
  12. Documents and checks the total quality of delivered items to the line.
  13. Verifies all the Q/A information for the Product, Deal No., P.O., Lot Code, Expiry Date, and Bar Code Label on the In-Process Control Daily Packaging Line Inspection (Filling/Packaging Documentation – Attachments).
  14. Ensures the accuracy of batch/log code numbers of pump, tank, hopper, tube (container), and carton, packer, and shipper labels.
  15. Operates assigned machines in a safe manner.
  16. Records data every hour on the In-Process Controls Daily Filling Line Inspection.
  17. Documents the scrap of the items with every lot number on the Material Accountability Sheet.
  18. Checks the weight, code, and expiry dates throughout the production run.
  19. Checks the product hopper so as not to run too low or empty.
  20. Ensures glue pots do not run low or empty throughout the run. If not running after shift is over, place the glue pots on standby. If line is going to be down for the weekend, turn off glue pots.
  21. Maintains a clean and organized production line and area
  22. Enters booking into Adage at the end of the run or shift.
  23. Ensures that all packaging online corresponds with Manufacturing Specification Sheet.
  24. Ensures the accuracy of batch/log code numbers on pump, tank, hopper, tube (container), carton, packer, and shipper labels.
  25. Ensures that established Company quality standards are being followed by operators and packers.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensures that line personnel are following Blistex guidelines (i.e., GMP, Safety, OSHA, FDA, etc.).
  2. Notifies Group Leader, Assistant Group Leader, Production Mechanic or Quality Assurance personnel, when respective problems arise.
  3. Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities, as may be required by the Supervisor, Production, Manager, Production and/or Director, Manufacturing.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  1. A high school diploma: or, its equivalent in training and experience is preferred.
  2. The knowledge and skills required for this position are typically acquired in 1 to 2 years of experience in a production environment
  3. Must have a comprehensive understanding of GMP, OSHA, FDA, and other related guidelines and be able to apply.
  4. Must have familiarity with production equipment.
  5. Must possess good mathematical aptitude (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
  6. Must be able to convert pounds, ounces, kilos, grams, and other liquid measurements.
  7. Must be able to read and write business English (spelling, grammar and punctuation, etc.).
  8. Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
  9. Must be computer literate in a Windows environment (i.e., basic data entry).
  10. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  11. Must possess good organizational ability.
  12. Must possess basic mechanical aptitude, to assist mechanics in the identification of any problems.
  13. Willingness to accept other duties, as assigned.
  14. Must possess the ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with internal and external customers, function as a team player, accept constructive criticism from management and comply with Company.
