CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE:
The primary purpose of the Operations Support Technician classification is to provide operational and technology support on various work undertaken by FCEM&HS including supporting a common operating picture for Franklin County and partner agencies, involving a thorough familiarity with the operations of the Agency and technology utilized in the area of communications and information sharing.
JOB DUTIES:
Provide operational support to FCEM&HS and staff. Maintain frequent communication with jurisdictional and partner agencies as well as agency staff about daily work matters, planning and events. Handle materials of a sensitive and confidential nature.
Assist with radio system device management both internal to FCEM&HS as well county radio system subscribers and inventory.
Assist with 911 Master Street Address Guide (MSAG) data updates as necessary.
Assist with the FCEM&HS common operating picture and information awareness and sharing via electronic media and technology.
Assist with notification system software for internal stakeholder groups and communications templates.
Provide operational support in the FCEM&HS Assessment Center during large crowd events or special security designated events such as Red, White and Boom July 4th, Columbus Marathons, unique conventions, and national elections as assigned by the Deputy Director.
Establish and maintain files and records in accordance with prescribed directives.
Attend meetings, as assigned, and maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Ability to work with both public and private partners to increase their effectiveness. Ability to prioritize requests and tasks, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; understand written and verbal instructions; prepare meaningful, concise, and accurate written materials; handle sensitive inquiries and contact with officials and the general public.
MINIMUM CLASS QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:
Vocational or technical school training in emergency management, homeland security, communications, or another related field. Any equivalent combination of relevant training will be considered.
Additional Requirements
Applicable National Incident Management System certifications of ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 to be completed during probationary period.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None required.
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Variable work schedule based upon special events or multi jurisdiction incidents.
