This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI location.
Operations Supervisor manages 2nd shift trade personnel, to provide the facility with crane and garage service that is safe, legal, and fully supportive of production.
This position entails managing the maintenance, repair, testing, inspection, and certification of Electric Boat Quonset Point's lifting and transportation equipment in accordance with all legal, corporate, and contractually invoked requirements.
The position provides technical leadership for the maintenance and repair of cranes, rolling stock, and heavy equipment to include forklifts, transporters, MEWP’s, etc. Requires the ability to effectively organize and assign work to hourly employees such that safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives are met.
Job duties include:
- Maintaining a safe working environment within the facility and provide technical guidance and support to daily operations
- Completing preventative maintenance (PM) requirements per schedule, maintaining facility assets and providing compliance oversight for EB and D962 policies and procedures, (SP's, SSP's, and departmental instructions)
- Provide planning, scheduling, training, safety, performance monitoring, equipment inspection, etc.
- Must be driven to continuously improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality seamless customer service
- Availability, ensuring that you are obtainable while at work and as expected by upper management, after hours. In your absence, having proper systems and personnel in place for the success of your business.
- Customer Service, having a culture of questioning and being self-critical will help to achieve great customer service
- Vendor oversight, managing the on-sight vendors to include, scheduling, planning and coordination of applicable work efforts, maintaining vendor POs for funding and period of performance.
- Working with employees, identifying strengths and weaknesses, creating development opportunities, setting specific measurable goals, and utilizing systems to monitor progress are necessary.
- Be able to make equipment end of life assessments and recommendations.
Required:
- High School/GED
- 5 plus years applicable crane or garage maintenance mechanical/electrical experience
- Must be willing to work extended hours, holidays and weekends as business needs dictate
- Must have working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
- Must have fluent knowledge of ASME. ASTM, OSHA, ANSI, NEC, NAVSHIPS 7000 Manual, and crane regulations
- Candidates must be able to climb to heights of 150 feet, work outside in cold and inclement weather.
- Must have expert knowledge of lifting equipment and policy
- Must possess experience with electronic process controllers/computers
- Must have proficient computer skills
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense
