Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented individual to join our team as the Operations Supervisor. To succeed in this role, you should also be a good problem-solver with sharp, analytical thinking. The responsibilities of the Operations Supervisor include training and supervising employees, monitoring their department's compliance with operational policies, and keeping up-to-date with the progress of administrative duties. Project management and effective communication are important operation supervisor skills.
Objectives:
- Assign work to employees to meet planned shipping schedules. Check and prioritize shipments as required
- Ensure incoming loads are accurate.
- Ensure that the warehouse operates at peak efficiency ? with customer satisfaction as the primary goal ? by supervising, organizing, and training warehouse employees and establishing, monitoring, and managing operational goals
- Develop warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilization, inventory, quality, accuracy, and shipping methods
- Train and manage the warehouse team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals
- Oversee daily operations while controlling and managing inventory and logistics Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures and by complying with company and legal regulations
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily warehouse activities, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, floor productivity, shipping, and customer service
- Schedule and oversee the warehouse team, and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime
- Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee general maintenance when necessary
- Meet regularly with the supervisor and warehouse team to analyze productivity and develop actionable plans for loss prevention
- Oversee and manage logistics for transporting products to customers and company facilities, communicating with all stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery
- Ensure each order is accurate prior to leaving the building
- Provide support to warehouse staff as needed to fulfill order requirements, receiving & and shipping
- Main backup to facility manager
- Manage sales counter for walk/call-in customers along with daily quotes and sales orders
- Work with the area manager on larger customer bids
Required skills and qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three or more years of experience in a warehouse role managing hourly employees
- Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities
- Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of company staff
- Ability to deliver effective feedback, both written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree (or equivalent) in logistics or supply chain management
- License to operate a forklift
