Operations Strategy Intern

We heard you knock!
As an Operations Strategy Intern, you will work with Masonite operations teams to drive improved efficiency, operational stability, and performance reliability. Intern assignments will be primarily focused on basic industrial engineering work and Lean/Six-Sigma-oriented project work. All assignments are designed to stretch your skills and to support your professional development by providing clear goals and actionable feedback on your performance. In addition, you will be participating in a program that encompasses:

• Approximately 11-week summer assignment with the Masonite manufacturing operations team, located in Charlotte, NC
• Development of Industrial Engineering and Continuous improvement skills including Line Balancing, Standard Work development, Kaizen, 5S implementation, Lean Management Systems, etc.
• Interactions with business functions throughout the company including finance, product management, and product engineering
• The opportunity to build teamwork skills through interaction with other interns and colleagues.

Responsibilities:

• Help drive process improvements that sustain project goals, and provide timely, accurate, and meaningful information on project status, and keep updated financial records of project.
• Support strategic project and be responsible for completing assigned tasks to achieve specific project goals.
• Working with plant and project teams to create new process documentation, training materials, Standard operating procedure documents, and providing training to the plant operators.
• Identify and execute opportunities to improve process and material flow
• Overseeing management planning and execution for projects while influencing behavior without direct authority.

Qualifications:

• Working on Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or Business
• Junior or Senior year
• Lean training a plus
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred but not required
• Experience participating in a team environment
• Lean training and certification a plus
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
• Experience participating in a team environment.
