Job description

SUMMARY
The Manager(s) of Sales and Operation Planning (S&OP) are responsible for coordinating all aspects of S&OP for a specified parts scope, within S&OP Dept in the Service Execution Parts group, ensuring that demand, supply and inventory are balanced and aligned with the Mitsubishi Power business plan and customer expectations. As a 1st line manager, this is expected to be a combination of a working manager as well as a people leader.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
People Leadership
  • Bring a continuous improvement mindset for including but not limited to process improvement and data visibility development.
  • Support Training and certification development including identification of process gaps, revision to work instructions, and assist with training of other team members.
  • Develop team member development plans including Progression path planning and succession plans for team members' growth.

S&OP
  • Lead cross functional team from Service and Manufacturing to ensure that an integrated demand and supply plan for long lead strategic parts is developed and implemented consistent with business and management requirements. Teams include our manufacturing teams in Savannah, Orlando, Houston, and Japan.
  • Serial Parts S&OP: GT centerline capital parts including compressor, combustor, turbine.
  • Strategic Parts S&OP: all other parts covered under service contracts that are long lead time and would require long term planning and safety stock to meet service levels
  • Ensure that service level planning and inventory targets support corporate objectives for sales, inventory turnover ratios, cash flow and fulfillment of customer requirements Forecasting
  • Coordinate with S&OP Forecast & Demand Manager to provide accurate multi-year forecasts for parts demand as required by the business plan to avoid shortages and increase revenue
  • Support S&OP Forecast & Demand Manager to develop and implement metrics to measure the accuracy of forecasting models and the effectiveness of the S&OP process. Demand Management
  • Partner with New Generation Sales (NGS) and Service Product Line Management (PLM) to understand new technology and coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to plan how PGS will provide service parts
  • Perform analysis of demand inside lead time, especially outage parts (OP) requests, making recommendations for improved planning, and implementing necessary changes
  • Coordinate with LTSA, Sales, and Order Fulfillment to ensure demand is entered into SAP ahead of parts planning lead times Inventory and Safety Stock
  • Develop and maintain methods to identify unplanned parts demand including recommendations for safety stock levels to support unplanned demand consistent with business plan and other contractual requirements
  • Work cross functionally with Engineering, Repair shops, and Quality to analyze and use parts fallout data, along with fleet configuration and standardization, to set safety stock levels
  • Collaborate with the planning team to identify Slow Moving/ Obsolete Inventory, work with engineering to understand upgrades and usability of parts, and align with the Sales team to proactively quote and sell those parts Planning and Execution
  • Manage planning team within scope of parts and sources of supply, to ensure supply meets demand
  • Work with the planning team to ensure safety stock and fleet spares levels are set up correctly, monitor changes to stocking levels to optimize parts turnover and minimize risk of obsolesce
  • Assist the development and maintenance of the S&OP processes within SAP and data systems
  • Measure results and proactively communicate metrics and project objectives, status, barriers and results to all levels of the organization as required.
  • Develop and document process descriptions defining specific steps/actions necessary to complete daily functions.
  • Perform other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

  • Education and/or Experience:Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, mathematics or other quantitative discipline. A minimum of 8 years of experience with gas and steam turbine parts types, applications, repair and manufacture. Knowledge of the purpose and limitations of parts within gas and steam turbines. Knowledge of general accounting principles. Experience with statistical analysis software such as Minitab or SAS.
  • Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, financial statements, technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures such as mean, standard deviation, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and statistics. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and statistics.
  • Reasoning Ability:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: medium to advanced personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, data manipulation, analysis software. Microsoft Excel; Minitab or other statistical analysis software such as SAS; SAP Navigation.

The employee may be required to adhere to MPSA and customer safety procedures including but not limited to, the use of personal protection equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, goggles, hearing and fall protection).
