The ideal candidate must be willing to relocate to a minimum of 4 or 5 locations where we have Distribution Centers in the U.S.
Position Summary
Directs and coordinates the day to day activities in the distribution center to insure
productivity, safety, expenses, budget goals are met, inventory is properly maintained and
accurate, and to insure the deliveries to member stores are accurate and timely. This
position will include a 12-18 month on-boarding period to learn AWG systems and
processes, at any point during or upon completion of this period the incumbent may be
asked to fill a divisional Sr. Operations Manager position requiring relocation.
Position Responsibilities
The individual must have the ability to perform the responsibilities listed below. The list is not
all inclusive of duties that may be requested by the department head or a member of upper
management but are intended for an understanding of the purpose of the position. It is the
responsibility of each individual at AWG to provide ultimate customer service to our members
to support their efforts in increasing same store sales and profits.
Oversee daily operations for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments,
handling and disposition of merchandise, tracking of warehouse inventory, and
ensuring timely receiving and shipment of product to meet the needs of the
members.
Proactively forecast staffing levels based on sales data to effectively utilize the work
force to maximize efficiency while reduce warehouse operating expenses.
Participation in the establishing the annual warehouse operating budget each year.
Actively participate in the coaching of the warehouse team to achieve the warehouse
objectives.
Train and develop supervisors in all aspects of warehousing.
Support the warehouse safety programs.
Frequently communicate with the Executive Director of Distribution on any problem
areas, process improvements, etc., in operation of the warehouse.
Ensure that state, federal and AWG safety, sanitation, and governmental policies,
laws and regulations are maintained and adhered to.
This position requires strong communication and computer skills with the ability to
use and learn new technology. Management will be kept informed on planning,
analysis, work performed and results. All records required by management must be
complete, accurate and submitted on time.
Position Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Undergraduate degree preferred and/or five years
related experience in a high volume ($800M+ annually) warehouse environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine
reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or
employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts,
interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to
apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of
concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a
variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Driver's License.
