As the Operations Controller, you will be responsible for analysis related to the overall profitability of the business. In addition, you will develop and monitor data metrics to ensure the business data and reporting needs are met. As the Operations Controller, you will be communicating with various Stakeholders on a regular basis and working very closely with regional and local plant operations teams. This position will be remote with travel, up to 20%, and includes an annual performance bonus and full benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cost Accounting:
- Lead annual standard setting activities for all Fortis locations:
- Cost of Materials
- Cost of Labor
- Cost of applied Overhead
- Inventory Valuation:
- Responsible for accurate monthly inventory valuations.
- Determine and monitor aged inventory reserves.
- Record intercompany inventory transactions.
- Monthly Cost of Material Analysis.
- Annual Budgeting for Cost of Material.
- Monthly ASC-606 calculation.
- Monthly Job Cost Analysis – review poorly performing accounts with COO, Director of E&P, Director of CSR.
- Month-end close
- Validate and Monitor accuracy of Various Reports in Power BI:
- Material Waste
- Standard Gross Profit
- Labor Variance
- Job Cost Tool
- Shop Floor Data Collection
- Lead annual standard setting activities for all Fortis locations:
- Reporting/Analytics:
- Prepare monthly analytical tools (bridges, waterfalls, KPI dashboard, etc.) for plant leadership input.
- Review analysis with plant and regional operations leadership and assist in preparing specific EBITDA improvement action plans as needed.
- Review and analyze monthly profitability performance vs. budget by plant/customer/SKU and provide actionable data for cross-functional team.
- Manage weekly management dashboard with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Additional ad-hoc analysis as required.
- Project Management Office (PMO):
- Lead PMO initiatives management by working with cross-functional stakeholders to identify, develop, track, and report on various activities to reduce costs and increase company profitability.
- Coordinate tracking and reporting of initiatives status to internal leadership team as well as board of directors
- Additional duties as required:
- Partner with operations, plant leadership and CRS team to further understanding of standards and manufacturing variances.
- Ownership of key requirements needed for future ERP development.
- Key member / facilitator of new ERP deployment team.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- BA in Business, Accounting, Finance, Management, Statistics or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience.
- Experience with cost accounting and implementing standard costing.
- Experience with multi-plant organizations.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
- Proficient in MS Office, with advanced Excel knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Keen observation and attention to detail.
- Desire to learn Power BI and other systems, as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provide direction and leadership to direct report(s)
Training Requirements:
- Willing to attend required training courses or sessions related to the job as assigned.
Physical Demands:

- Regular exposure to dust and noise in the production environment.
