OVERVIEW

The Operations Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for driving performance and achieving results aligned with the organization’s strategic goals across the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial plant operations with demonstrated leadership in implementing Continuous Improvement solutions, driving results while constantly problem-solving and engaging the commitment of others. A leadership style that is firm, goal oriented, motivating, and engages others in an enthusiastic way is important. Building rapport and relationships with Cadrex team members is critical as this role will be interacting with multiple different sites, and leaders across the company. The pace of work is fast, requiring the ability to learn quickly and thoroughly while continually recognizing and adapting to changing conditions. Reporting to the Vice-President, Operations, this role will be a key member of the management team responsible for leading the strategy design/implementation of the Cadrex Operating System.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Using CI tools to assist sites in improving operational performance
  • As needed, step into a site leadership role in the wake of a vacancy to bring stability, direction and improvement to the site while the search for the general manager is underway
  • Provide leadership, establish direction, and help site operations meet or exceed Cadrex objectives
  • Interact and influence the operational leadership team and functional staff including Quality, Finance, Continuous Improvement, Environmental Health & Safety, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Engineering and Maintenance to improve site performance
  • Act with analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to drive Key Performance Indicators
  • Emphasize utilization of Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing tools (Kaizen, VSM, 5S+) to lead cost improvement analysis and implement actionable, measurable plans
  • Champion the Cadrex Purpose and Value in interactions with site teams
  • Foster a Quality culture of early detection and escalations across the site to reduce cost, drive efficiency and ensure compliance
  • Work with site teams to maximize efficiency and cost improvement initiatives by establishing an operational plan, achieving results, leading to customer satisfaction
  • Work with site teams to uncover capacity and capabilities hidden by inefficient processes, lack of standard work, poor operational flow, and poor daily management
  • Expert level understanding of operations, organizational development, leadership, and Continuous Improvement tools
  • Provide constructive and timely feedback to site teams on progress, obstacles, and successes
  • Ensure that the organization is living the Cadrex’s Values
Requirements:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing in roles of increasing leadership. Experience in the precision machining space is a plus but not required
  • Certification in CI tools such as Six Sigma, Lean, 5S+, VSM, Kaizen etc
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial manufacturing at a plant manager or Operations Manager in a large site, working with non-union hourly workforce
  • Experience in companies with less than 3,000 employees, or divisions of companies that size or less
  • Experience in private equity and/or family/privately held business cultures a plus
  • Experience integrating smaller businesses into a larger platform and business strategy a plus


EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, marketing, finance, or related field


LOCATION

  • Ideally, the successful candidate will be within driving distance within an hour driving distance of a major airport. Preference for candidates in central US due to integration with other Cadrex functions. Candidates will be able to work remotely with travel ( ~75% per month) to the plant sites located in the US and Mexico.
