Job Title: Fund Operations Associate/Accountant
Location: (hybrid/Remote) can be fully remote / preferred location San Francisco Bay Area
Role: Upmarket is hiring a Fund Operations Associate, with accounting experience, to assist the firm with day-to-day fund administration duties and other associated tasks.
Seeking a dynamic, self-motivated individual for a hybrid/remote position. The ideal candidate should be an independent self-starter, capable of autonomously achieving project goals while also collaborating effectively with the team. This role requires a proactive mindset, strong time management, and dedication to quality outcomes in a flexible work environment that blends remote and occasional in-office engagements.
Job Description
- Maintain a thorough understanding of investment offerings and operating procedures as well as provide client/sales/marketing/compliance support.
- Coordinate management of routine operational tasks, including:
- Ability to interpret subscription documents, operating agreements and other legal documents and support new products launch.
- Managing investor/underlying capital calls, fund transfers and distributions, cash projections and reconciliations.
- Prepare the broker fee and management fee calculations and complete the commission settlement at the end of each month.
- Prepare company level month-end financial statements and support the auditing process at year-end.
- Assist with the year-end tax process of 1099s and K-1s.
- Fluent with QuickBooks
- Ad-hoc projects as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 1+ years accounting experience. Working experience in investment management, fund administration or financial services is a plus.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality deliverables and prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks.
- Knowledge of reconciliation procedures with an exceptional eye for detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong skills and experience in Microsoft Excel, and experience in QuickBooks is a plus.
- Language proficiency in both English and Chinese/Mandarin is preferred.
