The Role
In our pursuit to create a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion, GM’s Global Manufacturing Engineering team is challenging the limits on what is possible and embracing agility as it reimagines how to build the next generation of vehicles. Our diverse team of Manufacturing Engineers play a crucial role in transforming our facilities through implementing the adoption of ground-breaking technologies. From raw sheet metal to final assembly, this team is reinventing the tools and processes that will enable GM to deliver on our promise to create an all-electric future.
As an OT Cybersecurity Development Engineer, you would be responsible to develop industry leading technologies/solutions in the space of Manufacturing Cybersecurity. The scope covers all of Manufacturing Engineering globally.
The engineers in this group will need to be technically knowledgeable in all of the appropriate GM controls standards such as GCCH, GCCS, GCCB, PFCN / IECN and Plant Floor System applications.
What You’ll Do
Design, implement, and support global execution of Manufacturing Cybersecurity initiatives in GM Manufacturing facilities
Apply framework for implementing and maintaining Cybersecurity at regional Manufacturing sites
Drive system requirements to minimize potential security risks in a manner that avoids negative impact to Manufacturing Operations
Represent Manufacturing-specific security and network needs in the application and maintenance of Cyber Security Initiatives
Define and develop processes and methodologies for designing secure plant floor systems
Conduct compatibility tests of new hardware and software, ensuring compliance with IT requirements
Design, Implement and Support Global Execution of network security policies for Industrial Ethernet Controls Networks (IECN)
Define and drive improvements into existing eTools. Define requirements for new eTools.
Support documentation of processes and procedures related to Manufacturing Cybersecurity Initiative.
Incorporate lessons learned and cost savings initiatives into the appropriate standards.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Engineering bachelor's degree, Electrical or Computer Engineering
Familiarity with Network and Computer Communications Standards. Knowledge of vehicle manufacturing processes and operations, and knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering roles and responsibilities.
Knowledge of the Manufacturing Engineering organization and Automation standardized work with minimum 5 years of experience in Manufacturing/Manufacturing Engineering, with experience in launch execution, engineering design and build, project management, and controls engineering.
Knowledge of networks, risk management, security threats and techniques.
Analytical skills with proven ability to solve technical problems, with demonstrated professional performance in related area(s).
Extensive experience in Ethernet IP
Very high level of interpersonal skill required to collaborate with project engineers and other organizations.
High level of organization and planning skills.
High level of skill with computer-based office and engineering applications.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Cisco certified in CCNA, CCNP, CCSP
Engineering master's degree
