Operational Key Account Manager

Salary Range: $50,824-$84,425

Position Summary:

The Operational Key Manager will be responsible for the day to day management and direction of a the  assigned YLA account relationships.  The Operational Key Manager oversees the delivery/KPIs of various services as specified in the service agreement between the parties or in customer procedures, while continuing to develop and grow the current business. Services may cut across many different phases of the supply chain and multiple vendors of the customers The Operational Key Manager generally consist of  handling one strategic account in which the person is located at said account.

Customer Relationship Management: The Operational Key Manager will function as the primary representative, responsible for building and maintaining a positive relationship with assigned client. The Operational Key Manager will communicate with clients by telephone, email, or in person, as needed; provide product and service information and answer other general account questions.

Client Expert: The Operational Key Manager  will proactively consult said client on best practices and necessary system and process changes to achieve client goals throughout the year. In addition, the On Site / Client Manager will maintain and create business relationships within the marketing, sales and other strategic departments of the account as needed. Work directly with customers and act as advisors regarding services provided and resolutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• • Participate in RFQ / Periodic Rate Review with Branch Management.
  • Spot Quotes incl obtaining rates from internal/external party.
  • US billing ad hoc approval request (storage, detention, etc.)
  • Onboard new locations / lanes - external, Internal
  • Creation/updates of RRA (Route Risk Assessment)
  • SOP creation/maintenance
  • Forecast (obtain, share with related parties for planning)
  • Billing, AR escalation/support
  • Trouble shooting
  • Bi-weekly call with agent
  • GP management (decide profit level) with branch Management.
  • POA/SLI maintenance (oversight)
  • Credit Application / Supplier setup
  • Main contact for client
  • Weekly/Monthly Spend Report (manual) to AZ and BO
  • EDI errors
  • Check Cost invoices from venders/OPCOs if accurate.
  • Provide temp/packing instructions to Export/Agent
  • Follow-up with Destination(export) Origin (import)
  • Maintain Supplies (Thermal blankets/temp monitors/misc. packaging)
  • File claim for damage
  • Pick up / return arrangement of active / passive units.
  • Send pre-alert to the customer / destination (consignee’s)
  • Tracking and send new flight / vessel details to the customer and destination if any delay.
  • Obtain POD’s and share with clients if required.
  • Make sure Broker is copied in the pre-alert documents (ISF for ocean)
  Follow up with broker on clearance status

Other Duties include:

• Key escalation point for support and service issues
• Ability to make independent choices and implement operating practices for individual customer
• Set and run weekly client status meetings
• Quality assurance of client deliverables and activities
• Monthly/Quarterly Account Performance Review with branch management
• Assess quality, productivity and performance of all services provided to assigned clients and employees performing such services

Education and Experience:

3 or more years’ related experience in international shipping or international logistics. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written & oral). Must be able to effectively articulate views both within the Company and externally with clients.
• Ability to develop strategies and tactics to meet existing and new clients' needs and provide customized solutions.
• Strong relationship builder and communicator
• Highly organized and results oriented
• Demonstrated ability and flexibility in adapting to a constantly changing environment
