Job Summary: The Operational Accounting Consultant will play a key role in our Finance Operations Services, focusing on supporting our clients with managing full cycle accounting processes, designing and documenting standard operating procedures, and leading special projects. The ideal candidate will provide strategic insights, support process improvements, and deliver ad-hoc financial analytics to facilitate decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full Cycle Accounting:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of full cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with accounting standards.
- Standard Operating Procedure Design and Documentation:
- Develop and implement efficient and standardized accounting processes.
- Create comprehensive documentation for accounting procedures to ensure consistency and transparency.
- Special Projects:
- Lead and contribute to special projects related to financial analysis, process improvement, and system implementations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and timelines.
- Financial Analysis:
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Provide insights into operational aspects observed during the close process, with recommendations for process improvements and efficiency gains.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial analytics and reporting packages for strategic decision-making.
- Internal Controls and Process Design:
- Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities.
- Drive projects, provide accounting guidance, and serve as the first point of contact for finance and business partners to resolve issues.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with finance tech teams to communicate accounting requirements and resolve any issues affecting financial data integrity.
- Work cross-organizationally with business, finance, operations, and finance tech teams to drive automation, reduce manual effort, and improve reporting needs to support business growth.
- New Business Launch Support:
- Support new business product and geography launches by documenting accounting requirements and performing user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Period-End Close Support:
- Provide ad-hoc support for period-end close tasks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proven experience in full cycle accounting and financial management.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and compliance.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in designing and documenting standard operating procedures.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- CPA qualification is a strong plus.
