Job description

The Operational Risk Officer is a strategic professional who provides oversight, governance, facilitation, and assistance to the business related to USPB Risk Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Mitigation activities. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide, influence and drive others, in particular colleagues in other areas. Work impacts all USPB business areas including Operations, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of all Compliance and Operational Risk categories.
Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and oversees the application of operational risk policies, technology and tools, and governance processes to create lasting solutions for minimizing losses from failed internal processes, inadequate controls, and emerging risks.
  • Independently assess risks and drive actions to address the root causes that persistently lead to significant residual operational risk by challenging both historical and proposed practices.
  • Governance and oversight may include (not limited to) all Compliance and Operational Risk categories/risk stripes.
  • Develops and maintains reporting utilizing CR&C and iCAPs data sources to support oversight and governance of Risk Mitigation and Risk Assessment Initiatives.
  • Leads expansion of USPB Risk Appetite Assessment and Risk Mitigation Reporting and Metrics.
  • Leads quality control and quality assurance of Risk Mitigation reporting, deck ware, metrics and performance.
  • Leads routines associated with the production of the monthly USPB Risk Mitigation and Control and Monitoring Forum(s).
  • Leads other routines (including reporting, assessment and escalation) managed by the USPB SORM organization as needed.
  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:
  • 6-10 years experience navigating and networking across USPB.
  • Intermediate to Advanced excel report development experience/skills.
  • Ability to develop project plans, manage individual deadlines and goals.
  • Understanding of risk management methodology, with some knowledge of impacting regulations and requirements.
  • Ability to identify issues and problems, generate solutions and choose appropriate alternatives.
  • Manage internal customer expectations, track requirements and issues, remove barriers, resolve minor issues and escalate to immediate manager where required.

Education:
  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
