Job Description
This position is responsible for directly supervising patient care in the Operating Room and all related activities of the surgical suite according to the policies and objectives of the Spokane Eye Surgery Center. This position is also responsible for staff supervision and counseling, maintaining quality of patient care, daily staffing, and coordinating the infection prevention program by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
- Oversees daily Operating Room staff scheduling to assure appropriate numbers of personnel for surgeries scheduled.
- Supervises all Operating Room personnel.
- Communicates with surgeons to ensure smooth surgical day and high-quality care.
- Provides input to the Director of Nursing for completion of annual performance reviews for OR RN. Will complete annual evaluations for Surgical Techs, IP and Transport staff.
- Provides encouragement, praise and takes corrective action to address performance deficiencies for all staff assigned to OR.
- Communicates on a daily basis with the Leadership Team to ensure smooth operation of the surgery center.
- Serves as a resource for all Operating Room personnel.
- Collaborates with the Infection Preventionist to monitor current infection control recommendations through the CDC, AORN, and APIC to ensure policies remain current and staff are following best practices.
- Assists Director of Nursing to ensure surgeon preferences are kept updated.
- Able to work as a staff nurse in all peri-operative areas.
- Serves on the SESC Quality Committee
- Ensures environmental safety and quality care.
- Manages O.R. equipment/repairs and helps to ensure adequate supplies for the OR area.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous ophthalmic experience
- RN License – WA State
- BLS Certification
- ACLS Certification
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Previous experience in a surgery setting
Pay Scale: $36.46 - $53.44
