Class Summary: Under limited supervision installs and maintains a variety of plumbing water and waste disposal systems to ensure the continual operation of District facilities.

Performs troubleshooting procedures including basic electrical readings to identify inadequately designed or defective plumbing, water, and waste disposal systems. Determines the best process for repair/replacement of defective items. (e.g) identifying the necessary parts, materials and tools required).

Performs maintenance, preventative maintenance, installation and/or repair activities of District plumbing and related equipment. Constructs and/or redesigns inadequately designed or defective plumbing, water, and waste disposal systems.

Contacts original equipment vendors on major repairs to identify the most effective and efficient utilization of water and waste disposal systems.

Knowledge: Previous education, training, work or life experience which provides evidence of the successful completion of the various tasks listed. Such knowledge may be evidenced by six (6) years of general plumbing (water and waste disposal system) maintenance and repair experience.

Licensing Requirements (position requirements at entry): Journeyman License (and knowledge of applicable codes and standards) and valid Alaska drivers license.
Physical Requirements: Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
