Position: Instructional One-to-One Assistant
Department:Intermediate School
Reports to: Building Principal
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly) - Educational Support Professional Association
Schedule: Full Time, 10 Months, 6.5 hours/day
Hourly Rate: $16.50/hour

SUMMARY:
Performs any combination of the following duties and responsibilities with assigned student(s) to support individualized education plan. An Instructional one-to-one assistant may provide support to more than one student.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

- Provides one-to-one support and assistance to assigned student, including support and assistance in the use of medical equipment (for example augmentative communication devices), activities of daily living and monitoring health and behavior.
- Assists student in boarding and/or riding bus.
- Assists with the maintenance and adjustment of equipment as related to student's individual needs.
- Assists student in personal hygiene needs, which may include dressing and/or toileting.
- Assists with ambulatory needs as necessary.
- Assists with feeding of student as necessary.
- Accompanies student on field trips.
- Observes and reports unusual or atypical student behavior to teacher/case manager.
- Respects the confidential nature of pupil records and school reports.
- Ability to complete state reports (ACCESS) for reimbursement of state funded monies.
- Assist in the collection of behavioral, functional, and academic data.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- High School Diploma or equivalent (will be required to complete the Credential of Competency within 1st year of employment if education is less than 2 years post-secondary)
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Department of Education requires that Instructional Assistants provide evidence of 20 hours of staff development activities related to their assignment.
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and is able to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee may be required to push students in wheelchair/adaptive equipment.
