As our OIT Security Student Assistant, you will get hands-on experience with current security tools, including next-generation firewalls, network monitors, endpoint protection, and other monitoring tools. You'll be part of a dynamic team that works together on incident response, documentation, and resolution. You'll learn how to identify and assess vulnerabilities, work with their system owners, and be part of the overall effort of reducing risk at University of Alaska.
To thrive in this role you must have basic computer knowledge, the ability to use the internet, and work with web applications and tools. You must have strong written and verbal communication skills to convey essential information to technical and non-technical audiences; and a general understanding and interest in best practices for information security and information assurance. The ability to independently research emerging threats and vulnerabilities and their mitigations is highly desirable.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent.
To be eligible for student employment, graduate and undergraduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours at the University of Alaska, and have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA).
Position Details:
This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' Campus in Fairbanks, AK. This is a part-time Student position, with a starting pay of $15.26 hourly on the Student Assistant Pay Grid.
