Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Commercial Sergeant, the Office Technician (OT) functions as the primary technical clerical support for the units under the Special Services Command. The responsibilities of the OT include, but are not limited to, the following:

Ensures all CHP 415, Daily Field Record, for uniformed personnel, are entered into the Activity Tracking System (ATS) within the pay period and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) cut-off dates by verifying the employee’s attendance screens and reviewing the Dates Missing Reports. Serves as the resource person and answers, directs, and responds to public or internal inquiries, in verbal or written form, regarding the Commercial, Safety and Farm Labor Vehicle Education, El Protector, Recruitment, and Background Investigation programs. Maintains due dates and deadlines on all time sensitive reports and assures all reports are accurate; prepares and processes employee benefits documents; processes and tracks Travel Expense Claims; maintains personnel files and prepares/processes various confidential personnel records and health benefits forms; processes CHP 121, Employer's Report of Occupational Injury or Illness, and CHP 121A, Supervisory Review of Occupational Injury, Illness, or Exposure; processes and track subpoenas and court cancellations for personnel; acts as the bank card holder and is responsible for recording invoices and reconciling bank statements; responsible for inventory and ordering supplies; and performs other duties as required.

Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired.   • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) serves as documentation of each applicant’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Each question must be numbered and addressed in the same order as the questions below. The SOQ must be typed, no more than two pages in length, and 12-point Arial font.
