Job Description and Duties
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), the Office Technician (General) acts as the Research Authorization Database Steward and is responsible for the processing of all research authorization applications and associated use reports submitted to the Pesticide Evaluation Branch. The research authorization program allows researchers to collect field data under California conditions for unregistered products or uses while ensuring the Department assesses potential hazards to handlers, field workers, public health, or the environment. The Office Technician (General) will additionally assist in ordering and maintaining supplies, organizing files, publishing metrics, and performing other administrative tasks within the Pesticide Evaluation Branch.

NOTE: This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.
