Intro:
The Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District (EUPISD) is one of 56 intermediate school districts (ISD) in Michigan. Every one of the state's 500+ local school districts is part of an ISD. The EUPISD is a regional education service agency with the primary function to provide or assist our local districts to provide special programs and services. Within our ISD, there are 19 districts covering 4,000 square miles in three counties and part of another in the eastern end of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The total number of PK-12 students is 6,500.
The EUPISD serves local districts by providing educational services and support in special education, curriculum, early childhood, career and technical education, professional development, business services and technology. The EUPISD also pursues business, community, and interagency collaboration. The EUPISD has a long history of collaboration with our local districts that has resulted in the creation of a strong infrastructure in support of all aspects of teaching, learning, compliance, and fiscal management.
The EUPISD is funded with a combination of local, state, and federal funds. The voters of EUPISD have approved a 1.75 mill levy for special education, a .2 mill levy for general operations, and 1.0 mill levy for vocational education. State aid received is based on annual authorizations from the state legislature. Our current budget is $35 million. The EUPISD currently has 210 employees/contractors providing services to our local districts and students.
Purpose of Position: To provide office assistance to the Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District and several of the local districts
Requirements: Lake Superior State University student
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma and/or equivalent
  • Enrolled at LSSU during the school year and available for summer employment
  • Ability to make decisions without close supervision, and must be accurate, efficient and capable of handling detailed work assignments
  • Ability to maintain self-control and complete tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Proficient with the use of technology including Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Windows and other software applications
  • Good organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, and diligent work habits
  • Reliable attendance and high moral character
  • Pleasant disposition, neat appearance, self-initiating and ability to work in harmony with other employees
  • Ability to lift/carry materials up to 50 pounds
  • Must have regular and reliable attendance
  • Possess valid driver's license

Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the receptionist and/or other staff with the following:
  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail for distribution
  • Monitor incoming emails and answer or forward as required
  • Photocopy, fax, and scan documents
  • Maintain office filing and storage systems
  • Create documents, reports and correspondence
  • Coordinate and organize appointments and meetings
  • Keep cabinets stocked with meeting supplies and monitor inventory
  • Plan and organize lunch for meetings by request
  • Ensure office equipment is properly maintained and serviced
  • Perform work related errands as requested such as going to the post office or supply store
  • Drive company cars to service centers for tire and oil changes
  • Answer phones and refer to appropriate department or team
  • Take and distribute accurate messages
  • Greet public and clients and direct them to the correct staff member or conference room
  • Keep office area clean and tidy
  • Remain free of substance abuse and/or illegal drug use at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Keep the affairs of the school district and the Board of Education of the EUPISD and all constituent districts confidential at all time

Terms of Employment: Enrolled and attending LSSU full-time for the academic year
Salary: $13.00 per hour
