Position: Off-Shift Lead Processing Technician

Department: Production

Location: 527 Spring Road, Port Angeles, WA, 98362

Hours: Monday - Saturday 8:00 pm – 5:30 am

Pay: $24.00/hr. plus differential pay of $2/hr


Summary: This position is responsible for processing high-quality mushroom products by independently performing all production operations during the operational weekend hours. These include but are not limited to, measure/weigh and grinding product, prepackaging, and monitoring/preventative maintenance of production equipment. Assigned tasks must be performed in a safe and sanitary manner following all current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), thereby contributing to the overall successful operation and growth of the organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: include the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Ensures high-quality mushroom production by independently completing and implementing processing tasks as assigned by the Operations Management, using tools, equipment and manual labor to measure, weigh, and grind products.
  • Fosters teamwork by collaborating with peers, assisting as needed to meet all daily objectives, and providing support by answering questions that come up during daily processing.
  • Provides support with overseeing the performance of co-workers as directed, training employees, and ensuring that established procedures are being correctly followed.
  • Processing tasks of grinding raw mushrooms, compounding, packaging, and assisting with quality checks.
  • Works with the Operations Manager to ensure smooth departmental operations. This includes but is not limited to, scheduling departmental workflow and processing work orders.
  • Monitors the performance of all department equipment and helps to maintain equipment by performing or overseeing preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with the manufacturer’s directions. Notifies the Maintenance Dept. of needed repairs & works with them to schedule needed off-line work to ensure smooth departmental workflow.
  • Ensures that production operations are in good order by cleaning equipment and work areas to meet established cGMPs and maintaining a safe work environment by following all safety rules and modeling a good safety attitude at all times.
  • Follows established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Batch Processing Records (BPRs). Responsible for completing accurate documentation and data entry as well as verifying operators’ accuracy during hard copy and electronic data entry.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One year certificate from college or technical school plus a minimum of two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical Requirements

  • Proficient in Office 365

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Ability to carry out detailed oral and/or written instructions and effectively communicate.
  • Must pay close attention to detail.
  • Excellent research, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Takes ownership and is proactive in learning and delivering excellence.
  • A pre-employment physical is required prior to employment.
  • Ensures a safe work environment by following and enforcing all safety rules, maintaining strong safety awareness, and participating in required safety training and meetings.
  • Portions of this position are in a cGMP area, therefore masks, lab coats, and hair/beard nets must be worn. No makeup, perfumes, acrylic or artificial nails, or jewelry allowed in cGMP work areas.
  • Participates in all team meetings, sharing ideas on continuous process improvement with the supervisor and team members.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, area, circumference, volume, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for long periods & heavy lifting required, must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. This position is a VERY PHYSICAL POSITION due to the processing techniques. Work environment can be noisy requiring PPE; conditions may include exposure to extreme temperatures, occasional exposure to outdoor weather, and slippery surfaces. Offer of employment is contingent upon a successful pre-employment screening and background check


Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business SOPs and technical procedures. Ability to write reports and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers. Strong attention to detail.


Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Interpersonal Skills: Ability to quickly organize and communicate thoughts, and to understand communications from others. Ability to maintain composure, listen, and respond appropriately.
