School Occupational Therapist
Location: Oak Lawn, IL
Job Type: Fulltime, Summer/Full School Year Contract Opportunity
Pay: $45+/Hour
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive occupational therapy services to students with diverse needs, helping them develop the skills necessary to participate effectively in educational activities and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths and areas of need related to sensory, motor, and self-regulation skills.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Implement evidence-based interventions to address students' goals and objectives, utilizing a variety of therapeutic modalities and techniques.
- Provide direct therapy services to students in individual or group settings, both within the classroom and in designated therapy spaces.
- Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to integrate therapeutic strategies into the classroom environment and promote carryover of skills.
- Monitor students' progress regularly, adjust intervention plans as needed, and communicate progress updates to parents and the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide consultation and training to teachers and staff on strategies for supporting students' sensory, motor, and self-regulation needs within the school setting.
- Maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions, progress notes, and other required paperwork in compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
- Stay current with best practices, research findings, and trends in occupational therapy and education, participating in professional development activities as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree (or higher) in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Illinois.
- Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Experience working with school-aged children preferred, with knowledge of educational systems and IDEA regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement individualized treatment plans to meet students' unique needs.
- Flexibility, creativity, and adaptability in problem-solving and decision-making.
- Commitment to cultural competence, diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational and therapeutic practices.
