Additional requirements - Knowledge and at least 2 years of experience with facilitating rehabilitation groups such as arts, health and wellness, leisure groups and vocational training programs. Rehabilitation Counselor certification is recommended but not required.
Evaluates clients' needs for therapy and individual treatment to establish an initial Rehab. Tx Plan, addressing patients needs and interests through interviews, direct observation, record reviews, and by conducting diagnostic tests, such as: Allen Cognitive Level (ACL), Allen Diagnostic Modules (ADM), and others as indicated; to establish and/or modify treatment plans.
Develops and implements treatment plans for clients by selecting therapeutic activities designed to achieve objectives; which are realistic and reflect patients' individual needs and goals.
Conducts individual and group Occupational Therapy activities, such as: Art, Stress Management, Crafts, Sensory, etc. as well as activities of daily living, to meet treatment requirements.
Coordinates Occupational Therapy treatment activities with other disciplines through meetings and reports to ensure effectiveness of patients' overall treatment programs.
Documents on treatment plans, patient progress and evaluation results per departmental policy to provide information concerning content and effectiveness of Occupational Therapy treatment, recommend additional interventions, as indicated.
Performs related duties such as: maintaining records, ordering equipment, materials, and supplies, providing technical advice to others, attending meetings and in-service training programs, referring clients to vocational programs and other treatment programs, providing on-the-job training to staff and students, and keeping abreast of latest developments in the field.
Data entry of a confidential nature is performed in a timely and accurate fashion in keeping with established policies and procedures.
Provides therapeutic community transition experiences, including transportation (driver or co-leader capacity) of clients and staff to off grounds sites, monitoring patient's performance in community area and reporting patient's performance to Rehab. Coordinator and/or supervisor.
Supervises designated staff, students, and volunteers to review job performance and facilitate quality patient care.
Provides on-the-job training for entry level OT's, interns, students, etc. to ensure effective delivery of services and compliance with DMH/Taunton State Hospital program and policy.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to the age related and cultural needs of the clients/patients served.
