ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Test and evaluate all students referred for occupational therapy assessments, writes IEP's for students enrolled in the program and attend all TEAM meetings of the previously mentioned students.
- Provide direct occupational therapy to students individually, in a small group, or in the classroom and supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
- Using a multisensory approach, provide experiences for children to develop motor skills utilizing practical activities.
- Develop and/or enhances compensatory techniques for physical skills to help students work to his/her full potential in the regular education setting.
- Develop plans and instructional materials and provide individual and small group instruction.
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Evaluates student's physical and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports and adjust program according to evaluation results.
- Communicates with parents and teachers through conferences and other means to discuss student's progress and interpret the school program.
- Identify student's needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping promote student's health, attitude, learning and physical capabilities.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Select and requisition books and instructional aids, and maintain required inventory records.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA certification in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university.
- MA state license - Allied Health Professionals as an Occupational Therapist.
- Qualified applicants should possess an ability to work with and motivate students with disabilities and knowledge of diagnostic techniques
