Overview:
Strategic Results is seeking an experienced Occupational Safety Professional to assist the U.S. Air National Guard in enhancing safety through mishap investigation and trend analysis. This position involves assisting wing safety staff in completing accurate, timely Occupational Safety mishap investigations and data analysis to identify mishap trends and reporting through the use of the Air Force’s proprietary safety management system. The role demands a proactive approach, an ability to apply and explain highly technical information, and an ability to coach and mentor others effectively. The successful candidate will have experience performing mishap investigations/reporting and expert knowledge of applicable Air Force regulations and other guidance
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with all aspects of Occupational Safety mishap investigation, from initial reporting to closure, ensuring compliance with all Air Force regulations and requirements.
- Utilize the Air Force Safety Automated System (AFSAS) for effective tracking, reporting, and analysis of safety-related events, enabling the identification of trends and areas for improvement.
- Ability to pull safety data from AFSAS to assist wings with trend analysis upon request and to support report recommendations to senior leadership, enhancing decision-making processes.
- Offer technical support to safety investigators and safety staff, advising on best practices for investigation, reporting, and the use of AFSAS.
- Facilitate the timely closure of safety investigations and implementation of recommendations, working closely with relevant departments.
- Track report rejections and develop lessons learned to improve reports moving forward.
- Develop and deliver training programs and briefings to improve proficiency in mishap investigation, reporting, and preventive measures across the organization.
- Engage in continuous learning and development activities to stay abreast of Air Force regulations, as well as Occupational Safety best practices.
- Participate in strategic projects and initiatives as directed.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in safety management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- A professional certification in safety (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, CSP) is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Occupational Safety, preferably Air Force Occupational Safety, including a focus on safety investigations, analytics, and reporting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Air Force safety management information systems and data analysis tools.
- Demonstrated understanding of Air Force Occupational Safety regulations and mishap reporting requirements
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and formulate actionable recommendations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports and present findings to a variety of audiences.
- Proven ability to manage projects and tasks within tight deadlines, working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $35.27 - $42.68 per hour
