Position:Obstetric Technician
Location: Bricktown, NJ

Job Summary:
The Obstetric Technician performs various duties under the guidance of the Registered Professional Nurse, assisting in both direct and indirect patient care in antepartum and postpartum settings. This role encompasses a range of responsibilities related to maintaining a clean and organized environment and supporting surgical procedures in the Obstetric Suite. The Obstetric Technician is certified or grandfathered to work in the Surgical Suite.
Essential Generic Job Functions:
- Collaborates with nursing staff to provide direct and indirect patient care according to the plan of care outlined by the RN.
- Manages inventory by ordering and stocking supplies for the operating room (OR), post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), labor rooms, and related areas.
- Maintains sterile technique in the operative area, assists with surgical procedures including Cesarean Sections, Hysterectomies, and Dilation and Curettage.
- Communicates patient information and potential issues to nursing staff promptly and accurately.
- Responds to patient and family requests in a timely manner, ensuring patient belongings are properly managed and accounted for.
- Demonstrates calm and appropriate judgment during emergency situations, participating in crisis management as needed.
- Utilizes and cares for equipment and supplies according to established procedures and standards.
- Adheres to regulatory requirements, institutional policies, and professional standards of practice.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Demonstrates positive behavior and the ability to implement care plans effectively.
- Minimum of 1 year of hospital Patient Care Technician (PCT) experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of Obstetric or Surgical Technician experience in acute care settings.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Willingness to work scheduled weekends or switch shifts with other technicians.
- Experience or willingness to orientate to attend vaginal deliveries and assist with patient care.
