Job Description
In this role, you are responsible for assisting the labor team with deliveries and newborn care, including feedback, hygiene, and vital signs. You will provide direct/indirect patient care for infants and maternity patients under the supervision of an RN and facilitate communication of patient needs to licensed nursing personnel. In addition, you will coordinate paper flow and perform clerical duties for labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn patients. The MBU Obstetric & Scrub Technician serves as an adjunct to nursing care for a caseload of patients under the direction of and in collaboration with the Registered Nurse.
This position is also responsible for performing the functions of an Operating Room Scrub Technician in collaboration with the Mother-Baby Unit Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse. Responsible for adhering to AWHONN Standards of Practice, for managing supplies and equipment with the direction of Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse, and for promoting teamwork with physicians and personnel of other departments.
Position Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
- Current Washington State Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification.
- One-year general surgical experience preferred if not certified and/or a graduate of approved program.
- Washington Stated registered Scrub Technician required.
- Current CPR certification – Healthcare Provider (HCP) level.
This is a part-time, 24/hr per week, variable shift position.
