OB/GYN Physician

Bgesh is looking for an eager and qualified OB/GYN physician to join our team. The OB/GYN physician shall provide general Obstetric and Gynecologic Services to patients at the Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC), an Indian Health Service facility within the Shiprock Service Unit. NNMC is a rural 60 bed facility located in Shiprock, New Mexico.

QUALIFICATIONS:

DEGREE/EDUCATION:

  • All OB/GYN physicians shall be board certified or board eligible in OB/GYN

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years of experience in OB/GYN

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION:

  • All OB/GYN physicians must possess a current, valid, unrestricted license in any state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract.
  • The contractor must be credentialed and clinical privileges granted by the Northern Navajo Medical Center's clinical director or designee prior to providing services. The contractor must provide the following appropriate forms for privileging from the Northern Navajo Medical Center's credential's specialist upon award of this contract.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory.
    • Completed Application for IHS Medical Staff Appointment
    • Privileges Request Form
    • Completed NPDB Query Form
    • Medicare/Medicaid Acknowledgement Form
    • Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules & Regulations Acknowledgement Form
    • All Hazards Plan Acknowledgement Form
    • Copies of ALL active state licenses (license must indicate an expiration date)
    • Copy of DEA Registration License / Controlled Substance
    • Copies of ALL Board Certifications
    • Copy of Medical School Degree
    • Copy of Residency Certificate(s)
    • Copy of NPI and UPIN Notification Letter
    • Copies of ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates), if applicable
    • Copy of BLS (As indicated in Rules & Regulations)
    • Copies of CME (Continuing Medical Education) for past 2 years
    • Copy(s) of malpractice insurance
    • Current Photo (Driver's License or Passport)
    • Curriculum Vitae

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Medical Evaluation. The provider shall provide a fitness for duty certificate issued by a licensed physician to perform the proposed job without significant risk to personal health or the health and safety of others.
  • Immunization. The Contractor shall also provide the following documentation:
    • Immunity to Rubella, Mumps, Measles.
    • Immunity to Hepatitis B series.
    • History of chicken pox (varicella) disease or positive titer.
    • Tetanus Diphtheria (Td) within the last 5 years.
    • Documentation of receiving a TB Mantoux skin test (PPD) within the past 12 months with documentation of follow-up for a positive test. A signed declination of the Hepatitis B vaccination series shall be accepted.
  • U.S. Citizenship. Workers performing under this contract must be US Citizens.
  • Must have a clear background in order to obtain security clearance.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Effectively use correct grammar and spelling in all written communications.
  • Language Requirements and Cultural Awareness. The Contractor shall read, understand, speak, and write English to effectively communicate with patients and other health care workers, and shall be respectful of the local, American Indian, and Alaska Native culture.
  • Information Technology Skills. The Contractor shall possess basic knowledge, skills, and abilities to use a computer.
  • Orientation. All physicians providing service under this contract shall attend mandatory orientations and training specified by the government.
  • Background Checks.
    • The applicant shall provide all requested information necessary to perform Level I and Level II background checks.
    • The applicant shall comply with the requirement to obtain security investigations.
    • The applicant shall work with the IHS to ensure that the pre-employment screening process includes the appropriate investigation questionnaires and forms to be completed.
    • The applicant shall be immediately removed from the position if at any time the investigation receives unfavorable adjudication, or, if other unfavorable information that would affect the investigation becomes known.

DUTIES:

  • IHS is an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and is responsible for providing federal health services to American Indians and Alaska Natives. The IHS is the principal federal health care provider and health advocate for the Indian people. The goal is to assure that comprehensive, culturally acceptable personal and public health services are available and accessible to American Indians and Alaska Natives. The IHS currently provides health services to approximately 1.5 million American Indians and Alaska Natives who belong to more than 557 federally recognized tribes in 34 states.
  • Navajo Area Indian Health Service (NAIHS) administers health centers and hospitals providing health care to approximately 201,583 members of the Navajo Nation. The Navajo Nation is the largest Indian tribe in the United States and has the largest reservation, which encompasses more than 25,516 square miles in northern Arizona, western New Mexico, and southern Utah, with three satellite communities in central New Mexico. The NAIHS is the primary provider of inpatient, ambulatory care, preventive and community health, and environmental health services for members of the Navajo Nation and the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe.
  • The Obstetrician and Gynecologist (hereafter referred to as the OB/GYN contractor) shall provide general Obstetric and Gynecologic Services to patients at the Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC), an Indian Health Service facility within the Shiprock Service Unit. NNMC is a rural 60 bed facility located in Shiprock, New Mexico.
  • The OB/GYN contractor will provide direct patient care and consulting services, as requested, in the OB/GYN clinic, operating rooms, emergency department and on Labor and Delivery and the inpatient service.
  • Outpatient and inpatient OB/GYN duties and manage patient's needs as described in the (PD), identified by the Service Unit and as directed by Supervisor, in accordance with the competency standards listed in the Shiprock Service Unit Medical Staff By-Laws.
  • Provide professional medical services or direct patient care services under the terms of this contract, appropriate and timely medical services in accordance with the standards of care established by recognized medical care organizations and in accordance with the policies and procedures of Service Unit's Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules & Regulations at Northern Navajo medical Center hospital.
  • Provide service in the Department of OB/GYN in the delivery of patient care. Service shall be inspected, reviewed, and monitored by the Chair of Department of OB/GYN or designee.
  • Take care of patients with acute care to chronic/continuity care including prenatal, diabetes, H TN, etc.
  • Shall perform OB/GYN surgeries within scope of practice.
  • Shall obtain consultation with members of the Department of OB/GYN on matters of patient care when questions arise.
  • Shall review clinical records and adhere to records documentation procedures to ensure that records are properly maintained.
  • Shall be subject to technical direction and/or guidance of the designated Government official.
  • Provision of OB/GYN care shall be monitored by the Northern Navajo Medical Center's quality assurance monitoring program and contract performance assessment report.
  • All documentation on patients shall be completed prior to the contractor's shift is over. Delinquent charts shall be completed prior to the contractor’s completion of his/her contract at Northern Navajo Medical Center. If the delinquent chart is not completed the contract company shall assume the responsibility of returning the contractor to Northern Navajo Medical Center to complete any outstanding delinquent charts.
  • Work Flexibility. As directed by the Supervisor, the Contractor shall rotate into other duty sections as needed to support patient care. Contractor shall staff the Outpatient Women's Health Clinic seeing an average of 16-23 patients per 8 hour shift. Clinic hours are 8 am-4:30 pm.


SCHEDULE:

  • Full Time. 40-60 hours per week, M-F
  • On call approximately one weeknight per week (1630- 0745) and one weekend per month (Friday at 1630 through Monday at 0745). The OB/GYN contractor may be sent home if the patient load does not require his/her services.
  • WORKING HOURS:
    • Clinic: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Wednesday 0800-1230 p
    • Weeknight call: 1630 through 0745
    • Weekend call: Friday, starting at 1630 through Monday at 0745
  • Contractor will not work on federal holidays.
