Job Description
Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago MedicineCrown Point, located in Crown Point, Indiana, as a Nurse Manager Inpatient/Emergency Department (Hospital Administrator). UChicago Medicine is an integrated academic and community health system with multiple primary medical facilities within the surrounding suburbs of Chicago. UChicago Medicine, Crown Point is a new two-story, 130,000-square-foot multispecialty care center and micro-hospital in Northwest Indiana for what will be the academic health system's largest off-site facility and its first freestanding building in Indiana. It is anticipating an opening in Spring 2024.
The Crown Point care center will include:

• A micro-hospital with an eight-bed emergency department and a short-stay inpatient unit
• A comprehensive cancer center with infusion therapy as well as radiation, medical and surgical oncology
• An imaging center with MRI, CT, PET, X-ray and ultrasound capabilities
• An outpatient surgery center
• Laboratory services
• Medical offices with access to UChicago Medicine's physicians and specialists, including those in cancer care, cardiology, digestive diseases, orthopaedics, neurosciences, pediatrics, primary care, surgical specialties, transplant care and women's health

Job Summary:

• Provides leadership in the development of professional nursing practice by providing administrative support and structure for the delivery of professional nursing care. Accountable for assigned regulatory, quality management, and human resource support duties, strategic planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of systems and policies and procedures that support professional practice and achieve the nursing vision and organizational goals

Position Details:

• Shift: Day Shift
• Work Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm (can vary depending on needs)
• Location: Crown Point, IN
• Direct Reports: ED RN, IP RN
• Oversights: CT/Xray, Dual Tech, Patient Access

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for the provision of nursing services 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week, covering shifts as needed but not on a routine scheduled basis. Completes modifications, additions, or deletions to staffing plans to ensure reasonable hours and acceptable working conditions to provide optimal patient care coverage and outcomes. Implements standards of nursing practice reviewing and revising as necessary to reflect changes in nursing practice and patient population
• Effectively and consistently communicates with patients, families, and staff. Leads interactive departmental meetings and discussions. Maintains a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians and all levels of staff. Works to resolve patient and staff concerns at all levels, utilizing the grievance process as required
• Maintains regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local laws and regulations and accrediting organization standards. Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives
• Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire safety, emergency management, and infection prevention and control

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in ED patient care services preferred.
• Recent experience as Nurse Manager in hospital setting preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in healthcare management, administration or nursing preferred

License or Certifications:

• Registered Nurse, in good standing, licensed in the state of Indiana.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS or ENPC required

• Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
• Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

In this role, we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 40 hours per week. We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work the Day Shift, between the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm and may be scheduled for on-call shifts. We anticipate you will be scheduled to work onsite. The days of the week that you are scheduled will be Monday-Friday and may require weekends.
