Nutritionist I WIC program

The position of WIC Nutritionist / Certifying Authority is responsible determining client eligibility, nutrition counseling, breastfeeding counseling, and prescribe nutrition supplemental food packages to the WIC eligible participants. Will assist the Clinical Supervisor, Outreach/NE Coordinator, QA Coordinator, and admin staff when needed.

Essential Functions:

1. Review all documentation for WIC eligibility criteria with the participant/guardian and assign appropriate food packages.

2. Provide appropriate one on one and group nutrition counseling to WIC participants.

3. Perform anthropometric measures and finger sticks as needed for WIC certification and follow-up appointments.

4. Maintain client records.

5. ssist in Nutrition Education, Special Projects and Outreach plans as needed.

6. Assist with making appointments, issuing benefits, and other administrative duties as needed.

7. Maintain standards, instructing, review work, and coordinating activities.

8. Assist in QA reviews and submit information to the QA Coordinator.

9. Check email, memos and complete timesheets daily. Maintain any training or certification requirements.

10. Other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition or related field with at least 12 hours in nutrition as required by State Agency.

2. Two years previous work experience within the WIC Program and certification as a WIC Certified Specialist through Texas WIC preferred.

3. Must complete and maintain Texas Breastfeeding Educator requirements (per WIC Guidline)

4. Valid Texas Driver License is required.

Practical Experience:

1. One-month training to learn WIC system, forms, flow of clinic, WIC codes and computer program.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
