GENERAL SUMMARY: The Store Manager oversees all team members at a single location to ensure the ultimate service and food quality is delivered to Balanced Foods customers and clients. The Store Manager is also responsible in ensuring a great customer experience, team environment and ultimately the financial success on the location. In doing so, the Store Manager recruits, hires, trains and develops a diverse, high-performance team that consistently delivers on the Balanced Foods promise of fresh, healthy packaged meals to go!

The Store Manager develops an understanding of their area's market, local opportunities, and identifies operating trends within the location. The Store Manager is a direct reflection of the Balanced Foods brand and values and serves as a leader and role model to the Balanced Foods team members that position Balanced Foods as the industry leader in fresh, healthy pre-packaged meals to go!

The Store Manager will also be the Nutrition Coach for all of the locations meal plan clients. This includes conducting consultations with new onboarding members. By collecting information about the clients goals, activity level, etc. we will formulate a plan consisting of Balanced Foods meals to help them reach their goals! Weekly checking in on clients, holding them accountable and making meal plan adjustments as needed. We are here to encourage and guide them on their journey to their goals!

 

Essential Competencies and Duties:

1. Managing Vision and Purpose Maintain a fully engaged and high performing team that reflects Balanced Foods brand, values and goals. Create and manage the culture of Balanced Foods by sharing and promoting the mission, core values and secret sauce activities. Recruit, interview and hire qualified Balanced Foods team members with partnership with the District Manager that represents the Balanced Foods brand and culture. Train, conduct planning sessions and performance reviews with direct reports, and discipline when necessary. Spends a majority of time in the store selecting, coaching and developing team members to achieve service, quality, cleanliness and financial targets. Ensures that a standard operating platform is tailored to market conditions and reflects the Balanced Foods values, programs and standard operating procedures.

2. Managing and Measuring Work Plans, prioritizes and executes on Balanced Foods operational goals, strategies and operational objectives. Acts as the key point of accountability for the store's financial performance and customer experience through Monthly Store Plans and weekly recaps with his/her direct reports. Responsible for the successful attainment of area targets (e.g., Customer service, kitchen and store cleanliness, quality meal production, revenue and customer retention). Review store schedules to ensure Store Managers and Kitchen Managers have accurately designed work schedules to ensure production and service needs are met while controlling labor. Handle all escalated employee pay issues and ensure they are resolved. Contributes to kitchen team by occasionally working shifts in kitchen to stay connected to and share vision with Back of House.

3. Business Acumen: Fundamental knowledge of how the business works including practices, trends, technical and inclusive business awareness, be a role model for customer service behavior by interacting with customers and clients to collect feedback and identity successes and opportunities in the Balanced Foods experience, resolve elevated customer concerns; conduct on-the-spot "lessons learned" to prevent them from reoccurring. Monitor kitchen and/or store appearance and ensure problems are quickly resolved. Lead direct reports to agreed performance goals. Provide weekly feedback to District Manager on store goals and budgets. Perform regular review of time worked and overtime approval of employee's time records. Execute administrative and reporting duties.

4. Building Effective Teams: Ability to blend people into teams to create strong morale, spirit and defines success in terms of the whole team. Establish a fun, safe, healthy and community-focused store culture that delivers high customer satisfaction and achieves maximum profitability. Promote and exemplify Balanced Foods values within the stores and in the community. Establish a customer centric environment by ensuring execution of the Balanced Foods brand promise. Provide for the safety of employees, customers and company property. Resolve interpersonal conflicts among team members within the store that elevate above Store/Kitchen Manager. Supervise and direct regular training sessions with direct reports for all staff ensuring that all store employees are trained in kitchen, nutrition/meal planning, customer service, store procedures, and company policies. Instill a sense of common responsibility through cross-training and teamwork across Balanced Foods operations to improve the customer and team member experience. Devise and conduct appropriate team building activities.

5. Hiring and coaching: Is a good judge of talent, can articulate the strengths and limitations of people inside or outside the organization. Conduct weekly (or as needed) store meetings with direct reports to review performance and offer direction, motivation and guidance toward achieving individual and company goals. Provide developmental coaching and guidance for long-term career growth opportunities to all direct reports. Serves as the primary hiring manager. 'Hand picks' potential team members prior to arranging second interviews with District Manager. Identifies coaching needs for individual team members based on performance and behaviors.

6. Motivating Others Creates a climate in which people want to do their best, can motivate many kinds of direct reports and team members. Strives to create an environment of encouragement for all team members. Invites input from team members to gain/share ownership and visibility of projects. Shares successes and celebrates appropriately with direct reports and team members. Repeatedly communicates vision and mission of Balanced Foods, focusing team members on our reason for existence and our unique service culture. Skilled at communicating how small daily tasks assist in accomplishing our mission as Balanced Foods, Highly skilled in communication awareness. Rewarding team members openly and disciplining privately.

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS:

The Store Manager reports to the District Manager. The Store Manager is a highly valued partner in the Balanced Foods structure and has direct impact on Balanced Foods brand and reputation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Knowledge, skills & abilities: Requires strong leadership skills. Knowledge of financial reports and/or demonstrated math analytical/ratio skills. Experience coaching teams. Requires a strong understanding of customer service. Knowledge of the nutrition and fitness needed for success on the Balance Foods Challenge. Requires strong communication skills to be able to verbalize procedures and manage program expectations. Innovative and able to bring new ideas to the business. Ability to thrive in a very fast paced, ever-changing business environment. Confident and effective relationship builder at all levels. Serve Safe Food Handlers and/or Food Manager Certification

2) Minimum experience: Three or more years of progressive management experience supervising 3- 10 employees. Two or more years in a service environment. Prior experience in all areas of Balanced Foods operations. Consultative sales experience. A passion and understanding of the Balanced Foods brand and its unique brand positioning.

3) Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a store environment; communicate with employees, customers and the public. Ability to access and operate Balanced Foods computer system including preparing documents; enter data into computer system. Must be able to read and respond appropriately to reports from a computer data base or email system. Some travel required for meetings or to meet business needs. Extended workdays and weekend work are a frequent occurrence as needed to support the business. Salary: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
