Job purpose
The Nursing Scheduler is responsible to coordinate and maintain scheduling for care providers and staff. This ideal candidate will have a background in healthcare and have an understanding for staffing requirements in a long term care facility.
SchedulerDuties and responsibilities
- Creates and maintains staff schedules.
- Schedules medical services, appointments/visits according to care plans and care providers’ availability.
- Tracks and reports staff call offs & tardiness
- Maintains and updates bulletin boards with necessary info and notices (e.g. census, lost and found items, etc.)
- Tracks, updates and maintains various records such as MDS Forms, Certificates of Insurance, discharged/deceased residents’ records, thinned files and surveyor’s information book.
- Keeps track of residents currently wearing Roam Alert, posts notices in nurses’ stations and updates elopement residents’ photos
- Assists coordinating in-services, which includes posting notices, preparing for the in-services and assists the DON with scheduling the in-services.
- Tracks and posts all STNA in-service minutes
- Collaborates with HR and verifies STNA registry to update employee files for state/federal compliance
- Performs general office duties including but not limited to: files, provides front office and telephone services, tracks and reports office supplies needs, etc.
- Assures residents safety
- Works in collaboration with staff development and HR in planning orientation
- May Assist with medical records, transportation, nursing support, office support and other duties as assigned
- On Call duties
Scheduler Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or GED.
- Prior scheduling experience preferred.
- Computer skills including but not limited to MS Office, MS Excel and Scheduling program.
- Basic medical terminology.
- Interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to carry out directions, read and write.
- Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
Physical requirements
The employee must have the ability to lift, pull, push and climb stairs. The position requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time.
