POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for overall operation and direction of Early Memorial Nursing Home. Accountable for operating results, administering and directing activities to achieve goals and objectives as well as meeting the needs of the communities served. Works with the Hospital Board of Trustees to establish objectives, policies and long-range plans for the Nursing Home to ensure the best possible medical facilities, equipment and services are available at a reasonable cost.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Reporting directly to the Nursing Home Administrator are the Administrative Assistant, Director of Nursing, Compliance Officer, Business Office Manager, Activities Director and Social Services Director.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To prescribe the duties, responsibilities and employment conditions of all heads of departments and of all other employees; to establish lines of authority, accountability, and responsibility inter and intra departmentally; to maintain complete personnel policies; to assure all personnel are licensed, certified and/or credentialed as required.

To provide assurance to the Hospital Administrator regarding necessary resource and support systems for quality assessment and improvement; risk management functions; infection control functions; resident support and education functions.

To oversee the selection, employment, control and discharge of all employees of the Nursing Home as warranted by circumstances. To implement and oversee comprehensive management reporting for top level management.

To oversee all physical properties and to report on their state of repair and operating conditions to the Hospital Administrator.

To supervise all business affairs such as records of financial transactions, collections of accounts, inventory levels, purchases and issuance of supplies and to insure that all funds are collected and expended to the best possible advantage.

To cooperate with the professional staff and to insure like cooperation on the part of all those concerned with the rendering of professional services for positive resident outcomes.

To attend all meetings of the Board, the Executive Committee and all other committees established by the Board of Trustees.

To stay abreast of all laws, rules, regulations and standards that apply to the long-term health care field to ensure mechanisms are in place to keep the organization in compliance with statutory and legal requirements; to fully disclose inspection reports and prompt corrective actions take to the Governing Body; to make such reports available to the State or other recognized body that has a need to know such information.

Market Development Market Share, development of successful new programs.

Long-term Viability Timely development of strategic and operations plans. Development of plans and activities in response to changing legislation.

Human Resource Development Stable, productive employee relations environment; executive development plans; performance appraisal program, turnover; productivity.

Board Relations Timely, accurate Board reports and communications. Active, effective Board and Committee participation.

Medical Staff Relations Provision of appropriate facilities and equipment. Adequate resources allocated to development of new/expanded clinical programs. Common Nursing Home/medical staff goals identified and pursued. Cooperative working relationships.

Community Relations Public image of Early Memorial Nursing Home and its programs. Quality of care. Participation in community activities.

Qualifications Profile

Education: Must have and maintain active Nursing Home Administrator Licensure in the State of Georgia

Experience: Two years of active Nursing Home Administrator experience

Primary Management Skills: Understanding of clinical operations, strategic planning, marketing, operations management, healthcare regulatory requirements and human resource management, verbal and written communication skills.
