Job Summary

The Assistant Professor teaches class and clinical courses, while providing creativity in the learning environment and fostering student engagement. Service to the college is also required. This is a 10-month appointment in the school of health sciences and the position reports directly to the Department Chair of Nursing.

Responsibilities

Effectively teach and evaluate nursing students in both classroom and clinical settings.
Collaborate with nursing faculty to ensure student learning and program outcomes are met.
Advise/mentor students as assigned by school.
Assist in simulation and clinical practice laboratories as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Doctoral degree in nursing or related field
Master's degree in nursing
Must have a minimum of 3 years prior employment in direct patient care and clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse.
Must be able to develop, implement and evaluate teaching plans for classroom and clinical settings.
Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
Must be collegial with faculty, staff, and students.
Embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Must hold a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in Georgia or have eligibility to obtain Georgia Registered Nurse License.
Must have current BCLS certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in specialty areas of Obstetrics, Psychiatry or Pediatric Nursing
Two years of experience in nursing education (college or clinical)
Certified as Nurse Educator
Proficiency with D2L Learning Management System, Banner INB, & Microsoft Office Software
