Nurse Trauma Icu Training Program

For more than 70 years Mercy Medical Center Redding has offered comprehensive health care in the North State providing acute care and a full range of medical services. The 267-bed hospital offers major medical services including a Level II Trauma Center as well as specialized Cardiovascular Care Stroke Care Orthopedics Neurological Surgery Comprehensive Cancer Care Maternity Care and da Vinci Robotic Surgery. It is the sole provider of obstetrical services along with the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Shasta County. Position Summary:

The incumbent is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a patient assignment through therapeutic use of self the nursing process and other health care team members. The incumbent as a member of the health care team appropriately assists team members in providing holistic care to patients and their support systems with an awareness of cost containment and time management.

The ICU nursing Training Program for current nurses is designed for those with at least 1 year of experience in Tele IMCU, Neuro Tele or PCU.  This cohort is tailored for night shift RNs and will have late afternoon, evening and night training sessions. 

External candidates start date is May 6th.   Program training begins on May 13th ..

Minimum Requirements for the Training Program:

The ICU nursing Training Program for current nurses is designed for those with at least 1 year of RN experience in Tele IMCU, Neuro Tele or PCU at time of transfer, if offered position.  This cohort is tailored for night shift and will have late afternoon, evening and night training sessions. 

Must also meet the below qualifications:

• Have completed a basic Dysrhythmia class
• Have current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Willing to complete, within 6 months of transfer, an instructor lead OR online critical care course (Essentials of Critical Care Orientation aka ECCO).  See link that follows for more information about the online training option:  ACCN ECCO Class

Preferred qualifications:

Can commit to having PALS prior to transfer date.
